במענה על הפתקא שלו בצירוף מכתבו שקבל מחברו שי'.
בעת רצון יזכירוהו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להתעוררות ר"ר בהמצטרך לו.
וכבר ידוע הוראת בורא עולם ומנהיגו, לא יגעת ומצאת אל תאמין, ועוד זאת אשר על כאו"א בתוך כלל ישראל נאמר ראה נתתי לפניך את החיים ואת הטוב גו' ובחרת בחיים, ובחרת אתה דוקא בעצמך, אלא שהבא לטהר מסייעין לו, ויה"ר שימצא האותיות המתאימות להסביר לחבירו אשר ניתנה לו היכולת המלאה לשמש פנס אור במקומו עתה וצנור דרך בו יבוא אור התורה וחיות בקיום המצות לכל אלה הנמצאים בסביבתו, אבל ע"פ האמור לעיל צריך הוא לבחור בדרך זו ואז יצליח לא רק במילוי תפקידו האמיתי אלא גם לתוספת הברכה וההצלחה בעניניו הפרטים, ואם בכל מקום ובכל זמן יש תפקיד זה מגדיל האחריות וגם הזכות עאכו"כ המקום שם נמצא ומצבו הוא וגדולה אחריותו כ"פ ככה כיון שנשמת אביו והדורות שלפניו עומדים ותובעים ממנו, האם על זה מסרנו נפשנו, ואפילו בכל יום ויום, על התורה והמצוה בכדי שבני וכו' יבלה חלק חשוב מזמנו על ענינים של מה בכך ויצדיק את עצמו בטעמים שגם הוא בעצמו יודע שאינם צודקים, ויה"ר שזכות אבותיו תעמוד לחבירו להעמידו בקרן אורה ולהאיר גם את סביבתו.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your note along with the letter you received from your friend, may he live.
At an auspicious time, you will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, of blessed memory, for an awakening of abundant mercy in all that you need.
It is already well known the instruction of the Creator and Ruler of the world: "Lo yagata u'matzata al ta'amin" (If one did not toil and found success, do not believe it), and furthermore it is stated regarding every individual within the Jewish people: "Re'eh natati lefanecha et hachayim ve'et hatov... u'vacharta bachayim" (See, I have set before you life and good... and you shall choose life), and you yourself must choose—personally. However, one who comes to purify is assisted. May it be His will that your friend finds the right words to explain that he has been given full ability to serve as a beacon of light in his current place and as a conduit through which the light of Torah and vitality in mitzvah observance will reach all those around him.
But according to what was said above, he must choose this path himself; then he will succeed not only in fulfilling his true mission but also in increasing blessing and success in his personal matters. If everywhere and at all times this mission increases responsibility as well as merit—how much more so in his particular place and situation! His responsibility is many times greater since the soul of his father and previous generations stand and demand from him: Did we give our lives—even daily—for Torah and mitzvah so that our children would spend significant time on trivial matters and justify themselves with reasons they themselves know are not valid?
May it be His will that the merit of his ancestors stand by your friend to establish him in a bright corner and illuminate also those around him.

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that each person has both responsibility and ability to bring Torah light to their surroundings. By choosing this path actively, one merits Divine assistance and brings blessing both personally and to their community.
