מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבם מעש"ק, ובמ"ש אודות המאורע בכפר חב"ד, הנה כבר כתבתי לכמה מאנ"ש אשר דברי נשיאנו רבוה"ק חיים וקיימים לעד, ואינם יוצאים מידי פשוטם, ועאכו"כ שאין מקום לפירוש שהדברים אמורים בנוגע לאחרים אבל לא לזה שאין הדבר מתקבל בשכלו, ובכגון דא הוראת רבותנו ברורה היא, אשר במקום זה תתגלה מדת הרחמים שהיא גדולה ממדת החסד שלפני' נחלה בלי מצרים מבריח מן הקצה אל הקצה, ועל כל אחד ואחת אשר חוננו השי"ת בכח השפעה לא רק לחזק רוח תושבי הכפר אלא להראות גם דוגמא בזה מתאים למעמדו ומצבו, וכשיתבונן בודאי ימצא הדברים והאותיות שיוכל לפעול בכיוון זה...

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from Erev Shabbat Kodesh, and regarding what you wrote about the event in Kfar Chabad: I have already written to several of Anash that the words of our Nesi'im, our holy Rebbes, are alive and enduring forever, and are not to be taken other than literally. All the more so, there is no place for an interpretation that these words apply to others but not to someone who cannot intellectually accept them. In such matters, our Rebbes' instruction is clear: in this place will be revealed the attribute of mercy, which is greater than the attribute of kindness that preceded it—a boundless inheritance stretching from one end to the other. Everyone whom Hashem has granted influence has a responsibility not only to strengthen the spirit of the village residents but also to serve as an example according to their own standing and situation. Upon reflection, one will surely find words and expressions through which they can act in this direction...
At an auspicious time I will mention all those about whom you write at the holy resting place (the Ohel) of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, nishmaso Eden. May it be His will that you should share good news regarding all the above very soon.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that a chassid's influence must be used both to uplift others and set a personal example. The enduring words of our leaders are literal and relevant for all; through faith and action we draw down G‑d's mercy and blessings.
