במענה על מכתבו, בו כותב אודות קרוביו אשר ר"ל מתו להם בנים.
הנה ימסור להם שיזהרו לדקדק ולהדר בחוקי ודיני טהרת המשפחה, וכן יבדקו את התפילין של הבעל, והמזוזות בדירתם, והנשים יפרישו איזה פרוטות לצדקה קודם הדלקת הנרות בכל ערב שבת וערב יום טוב, וישתדלו במצות הכנסת אורחים, והשם יראה ללבב וישלח ברכתו אשר מכאן ולהבא יבשרו אך טוב בכל האמור.
בודאי לומד הוא בהתמדה ושקידה מתאים לסדרי הישיבה ומשפיע גם על חבריו שיעשו כן, שעל ידי זה תתוסף בברכת השי"ת בלימודו.

In response to your letter in which you write about your relatives who, G‑d forbid, lost children: Please convey to them that they should be careful to observe and beautify the laws and details of Taharas HaMishpacha. They should also have the husband's tefillin and the mezuzos in their home checked. The women should set aside some coins for tzedakah before lighting candles every Friday evening and before each Yom Tov. They should also make an effort in the mitzvah of hachnasas orchim (hospitality). May Hashem look into their hearts and send His blessing so that from now on they will share only good news regarding all these matters.
Certainly you are studying diligently according to the yeshivah's schedule and also influencing your friends to do likewise; through this, the blessing of Hashem will increase in your learning.
