במענה על מכתבו מי"ט טבת - שנתאחר קצת דרך הילוכו - בו כותב ומתאונן על שאינו רואה הצלחה בעסקנותו וכו',
הנה כבר ידועה ההוראה בזה ובכגון דא, שדבר פשוט שכשיפסיק להתעסק בזה, מאיזה טעם שיהי', הרי בודאי לא יפעול כל ענין. משא"כ כשימשיך ההשתדלות בזה, הנה מוכרח שתקויים הבטחת רבותינו הק' חזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם, וק"ל.
...לפלא שאינו מזכיר במכתבו דבר אודות ההשתדלות בעניני הת"ת וב"ר[2] - מתאים למה שדברנו בהיותו כאן. והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טובות בכל האמור, וכן בהנוגע לבריאות זוגתו ובתו תחיינה.

In response to your letter from the 19th of Teves—which was somewhat delayed—in which you write and complain about not seeing success in your communal activities, etc., it is already well known what has been taught regarding this and similar situations: it is obvious that if you stop engaging in these matters, for whatever reason, you certainly will not accomplish anything. However, if you continue your efforts in this area, it is certain that the assurance of our holy Rebbeim will be fulfilled—that persistent outreach never returns empty-handed. This should be clear.
It is surprising that you do not mention anything in your letter about your efforts regarding the Talmud Torah and Beis Rivkah—according to what we discussed when you were here.
May Hashem grant you success to share good news regarding all the above, as well as concerning the health of your wife and daughter—may they live.
