Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 23rd of Kislev, in which you ask whether you should begin praying according to Nusach Ari. Certainly, your intention is not Nusach Sefard but specifically Nusach Ari as clarified by our master the Alter Rebbe. There is no need to elaborate on the advantages of this nusach; some are explained in the introduction to Shaar HaKolel printed together with the siddur of our master the Alter Rebbe—author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch—who, according to tradition, compiled it from sixty siddurim and versions.

However, you should know that as explained in Shut Beit HaYotzer and Menachem Anaf Chelek Alef, although one may change from Nusach Ashkenaz to Nusach Sefard and within Nusach Sefard itself to Nusach Ari as above, it is not permitted to do the reverse. That means if you accept upon yourself to pray according to Nusach Ari, it must be with the intention to maintain this nusach permanently. Therefore, consider whether your decision is truly firm. If so, your heart's desires for good will be fulfilled—to pray in the nusach of our master the Alter Rebbe, leader of Israel—and blessing will come upon you.

Regarding what you write about how to arrange your studies and divide them throughout the day: You should discuss this with Anash at your location; present to them your knowledge and current schedule so they can guide you.

On what you wrote in your letter regarding "Yeshalesh Adam..."—see there in the commentaries on Shas at that place. For practical halacha—see Hilchot Talmud Torah by our master the Alter Rebbe chapter 2. See there.

Certainly you know about the three daily study portions equal for every soul, instituted by my revered father-in-law the Rebbe zatzal nishmaso Eden—Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya—and that you fulfill them; at least continue to observe them from now on.

Blessings,

In the name of my revered teacher and master shlita,
Secretary

Summary

The letter highlights both the spiritual advantages of adopting Nusach Ari as arranged by the Alter Rebbe and stresses that such a change should be made with lasting commitment. It also underscores maintaining daily Torah study routines and seeking local guidance for personal growth.
