Shalom u'Vrachah!
On this occasion, I wish to awaken you to the fact that from your letters it is not apparent that you dedicate your time and energy to influencing your own home—that is, your wife and children—gently and in ways of drawing them close.
I am writing precisely that you should dedicate yourself, because this is a matter of holiness, as it concerns the existence of a holy nation. The verse retains its simple meaning: 'VeShinantam LeVanecha' (And you shall teach them diligently to your children), as explained also in the laws of Torah study.
Especially since it is well known the talk of the Rebbe Rashab (may his merit protect us), which begins: just as one is obligated to put on tefillin every day, so too must one dedicate time to influence one's wife and children, etc., etc.
It is understood that one cannot fulfill this obligation merely with 'Chabad sharpness' or 'lights without vessels' at others' expense. In the end, this also comes at one's own expense. May Hashem grant you success to serve as a living example in this matter for your friends and acquaintances.
It is understood that one should not be distressed about the time required for these activities because, as above, through this one sanctifies time—and holiness and mitzvah lead to more holiness and mitzvah.
I await good news regarding all the above.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that dedicating time and energy to positively influence one's wife and children at home is an act of holiness essential for Jewish continuity. This personal involvement should be done gently and serve as an example for others.
