... וזאת למודעי, אשר כל הנ"ל חשיבותו הוא אינו בערך להענין העיקרי, והוא שמוכרח להסתדר בחיים משפחתים, וכמבואר בתוה"ק[2] תורת חיים ברור, ונראה גם בחוש איך שלא טוב היות האדם לבדו[3], והאריכות בדבר הפשוט אך למותר.
אלא שכיון שלכל דבר צריך סייעתא דשמיא ובפרט בזיווגים, וכמ"ש[4] בית והון נחלת אבות ומה' אשה משכלת[5], ובפרט בזיווג שני שהוא לפי מעשיו[6], לכן עליו להוסיף בהקדם בשיעורי לימוד בתורת הנגלה ובחסידות, שמירה - בלי נדר - שלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש מתקנת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע[7] בחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים, הפרשת איזה פרוטות לצדקה בכל יום חול לפני התפלה, וכן מהנכון שיבדקו התפילין שלו, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל האמור.
במ"ש בסיום מכתבו שלא בא בכתובים עד עכשיו מפני שדברים טובים לא הי' מה לכתוב כו'. - הנה לא לבד שלא תירץ הקושיא אלא אדרבה עוד הגדילה, כי תלמיד תומכי תמימים הנמצא באה"ק ת"ו[8] היפך דרישת השעה, ובפרט בדורנו דור יתום זה לא התעסק בהפצת היהדות בכלל והפצת תורת החסידות הדרכותי' ומנהגי' בפרט, ומוכרח שיתעסק בזה עכ"פ[9] מעתה ככל יכולתו ועוד יותר מזה, אשר אז נודע פס"ד[10] של מעלה שרואים הצלחה, ויהי רצון שעכ"פ מכאן ולהבא יתוקן הדבר ולאט לאט ימלא גם מה שהחסיר בשנים שעברו.

… And let this be known: all the above is of no comparable importance to the main matter, which is that you must establish yourself in family life. This is clearly explained in our holy Torah, the Torah of life, and it is also evident to the senses how לא טוב היות האדם לבדו, "it is not good for man to be alone" (Bereishis 2:18); and to elaborate on so simple a matter is superfluous.
However, since everything requires help from Heaven, and matches especially, as it is written: בית והון נחלת אבות ומה' אשה משכלת, "House and wealth are the inheritance of fathers, but a sensible wife is from G‑d" (Mishlei 19:14), and especially a second match, which is according to one's deeds (Sotah 2a), you should therefore promptly add to your times of study in the revealed Torah and in Chassidus; keep — without a vow — the three daily portions that are the same for every soul, instituted by my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, of sainted memory, whose soul is in the hidden treasuries on high, may his merit protect us: the well-known portions of Chumash, Tehillim and Tanya; set aside a few coins for tzedakah every weekday before prayer; and it is also proper that your tefillin be checked. May G‑d, blessed be He, grant you success to share good news in all that has been said.
As for what you write at the end of your letter, that you did not write until now because there was nothing good to write, etc. — not only does this not answer the question, it makes it even greater. For a student of Tomchei Temimim who is in the Holy Land, may it be built and established, has — contrary to what the hour demands, and especially in this orphaned generation of ours — not occupied himself with spreading Judaism in general, and spreading the teachings of Chassidus, its guidance and its customs, in particular. You must occupy yourself with this, at least from now on, to the utmost of your ability and even beyond it, for then the ruling from Above is known — that one sees success. May it be His will that, at least from now on, the matter be put right, and that little by little you also make up for what you missed in the years that have passed.
