In reply to your letter of 27 Tishrei, in which you write that you are in an inner battle with yourself, etc.

Let your heart be steadfast, trusting (נכון לבו בטח — Tehillim 112:7) in the Creator of the worlds — היוצר יחד לבם, "Who fashions their hearts together" (Tehillim 33:15), and לפניו נגלו כל תעלומות, "before Whom all hidden things are revealed" (Musaf of Rosh Hashanah) — that victory in this battle is assured, and it is only a question of time. For if you do all you can in this, you will win the victory at once; and if not, it may, G‑d forbid, drag on. But every single one of our people has already been assured that בל ידח ממנו נדח, "no one banished shall remain banished from Him" (II Shmuel 14:14), for the Creator takes pride in all of them, as they are מעשי ידי להתפאר, "the work of My hands, in which I take pride" (Yeshayahu 60:21). Only, free choice was given to each one, so that he may test his powers and reveal the inner point within him by his own strength. And the very recognition and contemplation that the victory is certain adds strength and might in conducting this battle and in finishing it soon. I will be grateful if you will soon share good news about the above.
