מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מיום שהוכפל בו כי טוב, כן נעם לי לקבל פ"ש ממנו מהרה"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ מוה"ר מנחם שמואל דוד שי'[2] הלוי שד"ר, אשר כותב לי שביקרו פעמים אחדות.
ובהנוגע לתוכן מכתבו זה, נכון מבוקשו ע"ד עניני צוואה שזהו סגולה לאריכות ימים ושנים טובות, והשי"ת יאריך ימיהם ושנותיהם בטוב ובנעימים ויתחיל ויצליח בהפצת המעינות חוצה בעירו עתה, והרי החוצה בטח יש למצוא גם שמה, המעינות והתורה בכלל הם בכל מקום ובכל זמן, ואין הענין חסר אלא המשתדל בהפצה, וזכות אבותיו וזכות הרבים המחכים לזה במחנו, מסייעתו, ויה"ר שיהי' מתוך בריאות הנכונה, ואף שאפשר בתחלתו יצטרך לקבלת עול בכדי להתחיל ההפצה, הנה לאחר שתעבור ההתחלה יראה פרי טוב בעמלו, ובמילא יתוסף בהחשק והתענוג שבזה, וכבר אמרו החוקרים אשר התחלת ענין (וה"ה לסוף וגמרו של ענין) היא רק נקודה הראשונה, וכשעברו מנקודה זו הרי כבר נמצאים באמצע.

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the day that "ki tov" was doubled; I also enjoyed receiving regards from you via Harav iy"a nu"n who is involved with tzt"z, Menachem Shmuel David HaLevi Reitchik, who wrote to me that you visited several times.
Regarding the content of your letter: your request about matters of a will is appropriate—this is a segulah for long and good years. May Hashem grant you and yours long and pleasant days and years, and may you begin and succeed in spreading the wellsprings outward in your city now. Certainly there are those "outside" to be found there as well; the wellsprings and Torah in general exist everywhere and at all times—the only thing lacking is someone to work at spreading them. The merit of your ancestors and the merit of the many who await this in our camp will assist you. May it be G‑d's will that this be with proper health. Even if at first it may require accepting some burden to get started with this outreach, once you pass the beginning you will see good fruit from your efforts, which will increase your enthusiasm and pleasure in it. Researchers have already said that the beginning (and likewise the end) of any matter is just a single point; once you've passed that point you're already in the middle.
