In response to your letters from the 29th of Nissan and the one before it, as well as from the 3rd and 6th of Iyar, and the telegram regarding the participation of the students in registration.

It is astonishing and greatly surprising about you—much more than about other Anash in Eretz HaKodesh—because you yourself were in America when my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe (of blessed memory), leader of Israel and not just Anash, would send his students to do outreach work concerning kosher education. He would choose the best students and send them to outlying cities to establish small yeshivos where children would learn Alef-Beis, Hebrew, Siddur, Chumash, Mishnah, and Gemara—even though these students could have been engaged in learning Chassidus in addition to revealed Torah studies. You also know about 'Mittwoch' hour whose purpose was to teach young boys and girls who did not even speak Yiddish; it was necessary to explain Modeh Ani to them, the basics of Shabbos observance, etc.—and even for this work my revered father-in-law sent students, including those already involved in learning Chassidus and prayer. This was done even when there were very few students at Tomchei Temimim here.

Now that this question arises in Eretz HaKodesh—and after several times these same students have participated in registration work—and we are speaking about approximately fifteen students for only two weeks—you set aside all your affairs and spend money to send a telegram here—perhaps it will be possible to prevent the participation of these students in registration (even though this could mean that in some new places—and maybe even some old ones—hundreds of boys and girls will be deprived of kosher education...).

It is understood that "it is also painful"—the delay regarding buildings for an agricultural and vocational school in Kfar Chabad. Now youth from Morocco are arriving; if the buildings were ready for full absorption—it might have been possible to save several tens from that youth by absorbing them into these schools. There should be an outcry for new additional buildings—not as things stand now.

From time to time another opportunity arises to expand Chabad activities in Eretz HaKodesh; generally spreading the wellsprings outward fulfills the prophecy "when your wellsprings spread forth—the King Moshiach will come." Yet from time to time another obstacle or delay arises...

I was pleased to receive word that their visit to a Reshet school during Minchah made a very positive impression on the students. If only they would heed my words and make such visits more frequently! May it be G‑d's will that at least from now on they will do so, and may Hashem grant them success.
