במענה על מכתבו ממוצש"ק. ולפלא שאינו מזכיר דבר על דבר שיעוריו בלימוד הנגלה והחסידות, ולא ע"ד השתתפותו בהתועדות ובשיעורים הנלמדים ברבים כו' וכו', וראשית מכתבו ואפילו גם באמצעיתו הוא רק בעניני פרנסה גשמיות וסברות שונות בזה, וכאילו ח"ו נשכח ממנו האמור בברכת המזון שהוא מן התורה, והתחלתה שהקב"ה הוא מלך העולם, והוא דוקא, הזן ומפרנס לכל בחסד וברחמים, שבמילא מובן ובלי כל ספק שצריך לעשות דירה לו ית' כאן במקומו, ואז יקוים ג"כ הענין דהזן ומפרנס לכל, ויעיין ובעיון המתאים באגרת הקדש סי' ט' ובכ"מ שם.
ויה"ר שעכ"פ מכאן ולהבא יתוקן הדבר מעיקרו, העיקר בהקיום בפועל, ובטח לא ימנע הטוב לבשרני טוב בזה...

In response to your letter from Motzaei Shabbat Kodesh. It is surprising that you do not mention anything about your classes in the study of Niglah and Chasidus, nor about your participation in farbrengens and public classes, etc., etc. The beginning of your letter, and even its middle, deals only with matters of material livelihood and various opinions on this, as if—Heaven forbid—you have forgotten what is stated in Birkat HaMazon, which is from the Torah. Its beginning is that the Holy One Blessed Be He is King of the world, and it is specifically He who nourishes and sustains all with kindness and mercy. From this it is understood without any doubt that one must make a dwelling for Him here in his place; then the matter of nourishing and sustaining all will also be fulfilled. Study carefully—and with appropriate attention—the Iggeret HaKodesh section 9 and the sources there.
May it be G‑d's will that at least from now on this matter will be corrected at its root—mainly through actual fulfillment—and surely you will not withhold good news to inform me of improvement in this regard...

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that while material concerns are important, spiritual pursuits such as Torah study (both Chasidus and Niglah) and participation in communal gatherings must not be neglected. True blessing in livelihood comes when one makes a dwelling for G‑d through these efforts.
