במענה על מכתבו מיו"ד אייר. הנה ת"ח על הסיפור עכ"פ מאשר עשו התועדות התלמידים, והר"י וחלקו היי"ג מסעודת אחרון של פסח, סעודתו של משיח, ובודאי עוררו את התלמידים בעיקר העיקרים שהוא המעשה בפועל, היינו התמדה ושקידה בלימודיהם (דעקימת שפתיו הוי מעשה, וכמבואר בתניא פרק ל"ז) ובקיום המצות בהידור.
במ"ש אודות וכו', אשר לע"ע אין לו פרנסה גשמית כו', הנה הלא אם לא היו מתיחסים בקרירות, בעת שחסרה להנ"ל פרנסתו הרוחניות, שלא הי' בה המצב העכשוי, שעי"ז נגרם החסרון בפרנסה בגשמיות, והא בהא תליא, כשיוסיף בפרנסתו הרוחנית אשר גם עליהם מצדם להשתדל בזה ככל האפשרי ע"י כל אלו שמזכירם במכתבו בהנוגע להנ"ל.
אזי יוסיף השי"ת בברכתו לפרנסתו בגשמיות, וכידוע הסיפור ופסק כ"ק רבנו הזקן, דו זאגסט אלץ וואס דו דארפסט, און אויף וואס דארף מען דיך זאגסטו ניט, וכהסיום שם, שכשעשה המוטל עליו נתמלאו כל צרכיו ובהרחבה.

In response to your letter from the 10th of Iyar.
Thank you very much for the report, at least, that a farbrengen was held for the students, and that Reb Y. and others distributed wine from the meal of Acharon Shel Pesach, the meal of Moshiach. Certainly, this inspired the students in what is most essential—practical action: diligence and perseverance in their studies (for even moving one's lips is considered action, as explained in Tanya chapter 37) and performing mitzvos with beauty.
Regarding what you wrote about etc., that for now he lacks material livelihood etc.—if only there had not been indifference when he was lacking spiritual livelihood; then his current situation would not have arisen, for this lack in material sustenance stems from a lack in spiritual sustenance—the two are connected. When he increases his spiritual livelihood—and you too should do all you can through those mentioned in your letter regarding him—then may Hashem increase His blessing for his material livelihood. As is known from the story and ruling of our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe: "You say everything you need; but what is required of you—you do not say." And as it concludes there: when he did what was incumbent upon him, all his needs were fulfilled abundantly.
