3353 —הרהור על הזדמנויות שהוחמצו במשך חודש מסוגל

Everyone agrees on one thing: each person absolutely needs to be awakened, even if it means being cajoled and coaxed, so that perhaps—by doing a favor for the Rebbeim, and through them for the Holy One Blessed be He and His retinue—he will begin to contemplate how to spread the wellsprings outward, and how much time he can set aside for this purpose. Afterwards, their consideration and discussion will come at the next gathering, and thus he will have fulfilled his obligation as required.

And when they read again their aforementioned letter and report for the period of 22 Kislev–21 Tevet—which, as they wrote in their letter, is a period especially suited for activities more than other times of the year—and then reflect on what they actually accomplished during it... at a time when Moshiach Tzidkeinu stands behind our wall, and the holy Nesi'im bestow and pour forth success upon even the smallest effort. Instead of taking advantage of this success, people search for all kinds of excuses (as in the interpretation of 'emet-lo'—'truth-not'), just so as not to fulfill their soul's mission (and it seems I have already written about this situation in our times). This is similar to what is brought in Igeres HaKodesh section 24: when it arose in His will to be revealed to all, etc.—see there.

May it be G‑d's will that there will actually be a complete change from what was described above, and may this be for long days and years.

This letter teaches us not to squander auspicious opportunities but rather to reflect honestly on our efforts and renew our dedication to spreading Chassidus. Excuses should not replace action; with Divine help available, we must fulfill our true mission.
