מכתבי מענה על שני מכתביו הקודם בטח כבר נתקבל. וזה עתה נתקבלו מכתביו מו' וי"ב כסלו, וצודק בהנחתו שלא תמיד כדאי לכוף את התלמידים לקבל את החלטת ההנהלה. אבל לאידך גיסא צריך להשמר שלא יפרשו את הדבר כחלישות או כהנחה מפני הלחץ מצדם, ובמילא יש לשער מראש איזה ענינים יכולים לקבל ובאיזה אופן.
וע"ד מרז"ל אין גוזרים גזירה על הצבור אא"כ יכולים לעמוד בה ובפרט בענינים הנמשכים משך זמן, אשר ע"ז אמרז"ל אלמלא נגדוהו לחנני' מישאל ועזרי' וכו'. ולפעמים יש מקום לבאר, בענינים מסוימים, שבאמת צריך הי' להיות בענין פלוני באופן אחר לגמרי, אלא מפני שעדיין לא הגיעו לזה ועדיין אינם שייכים לענינים נעלים כמו אלה והנהגה כזו, במילא אין עוד הסדר בפרט זה שלם.
מוסג"פ הקונטרס לי"ט כסלו, ובטח מתכוננים כדבעי לחגיגת יום הבהיר י"ט כסלו הבע"ל. וכן ינצלו את ימי החנוכה בכיוון זה, וכמבואר בדרושי חנוכה שההתנגדות היתה, וכן הנס בשמן זית זך כתית למאור, שבדורנו זה נתגלה ונתבאר בתורת החסידות.
בברכת הצלחה בכל הנ"ל ולבשו"ט בקרוב ממש - למרות המברק - מבריאות בנו שלום דובער שי' שחוזר לאיתנו.

My letter in response to your two previous letters has surely already been received. Just now, your letters from the 6th and 12th of Kislev arrived, and you are correct in your assumption that it is not always worthwhile to force the students to accept the administration's decision. However, on the other hand, care must be taken that this is not interpreted as weakness or as yielding due to pressure from their side. Therefore, one must anticipate in advance which matters can be accepted and in what manner.
As our Sages said: "One does not decree a decree upon the community unless they are able to withstand it," especially regarding matters that extend over time. About this our Sages also said: "If they had decreed upon Chananiah, Mishael, and Azariah..." Sometimes there is room to explain, regarding certain matters, that ideally things should have been done entirely differently; however, since they have not yet reached that level and are not yet suited for such lofty matters and conduct, therefore this particular aspect is not yet complete.
Enclosed is the kuntres for Yud Tes Kislev, and surely preparations are being made properly for the celebration of the bright day of Yud Tes Kislev that is approaching. Likewise, let them utilize the days of Chanukah in this direction—as explained in the discourses on Chanukah—that the opposition was specifically about pure olive oil pressed for illumination; in our generation this has been revealed and explained in Chassidus.
With blessings for success in all the above and for good news very soon—despite the telegram—regarding the health of your son Shalom Dovber who is returning to his strength.
