...And what is described as half a round threshing floor, with its face upwards to cover and conceal, etc., from external forces—and it, the essence and core, is a point in the center—thus it will also be an "Agan HaSahar" so that nothing will be lacking in the mixture, to align precisely with the point of halachah without deviation due to influence from external matters (see Meorei Or, entry Agan HaSahar, where it is referenced in Yair Nativ to Zohar HaKadosh and Zohar Chadash; also see Pri Etz Chaim, Shaar HaTefillah chapter 5). See Targum on Shir HaShirim 7:2.
"Shorerech Agan HaSahar al yechsar hamazeg bitnech aremat chittim sugah bashoshanim" (Shir HaShirim 7:3): Rashi there explains: 'Your navel is like a crescent basin—your navel is like a basin [Targum: "buklir" (in foreign language)] of clear water for washing; it is round and made of marble stones, and in Arabic it is called "sahar." Because the navel is like a round hole, it is compared to a round basin.'
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that spiritual focus requires guarding one's inner core from external influences, using the imagery of the crescent basin as a metaphor for purity and centeredness in divine service.
