נעם לי לקבל מכתבו בו כותב סו"ס מפעולותיו הטובות בסביבתו לקרבם לתורה ומצות, ואשר כותב שעושה הוא כפי כחו הדל, הנה ידוע המבואר בספרים בכלל ובספרי חסידות בפרט, אשר כל אחד מישראל הוא שלוחו של הקב"ה בורא עולם ומנהיגו לעשות לו ית' דירה ע"י הפצת תורה ומצות, ורבנו הזקן בעל התניא - פוסק בנסתר דתורה - והשו"ע - פוסק בנגלה דתורה כותב שבזה שייך פסק תוה"ק שלוחו של אדם כמותו אדם העליון שעל הכסא כביכול (עיין לקוטי תורה ריש פרשת ויקרא) ובמילא כחות נעלים ניתנו לו, והלואי שינצלם במילואם שאז ישנה הסביבה לאט לאט אבל סו"ס במדה גדולה ביותר, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצונו.
בודאי למותר לעוררו על ההכרח הגמור בדורנו זה ללמוד גם פנימיות התורה שנתבארה בתורת החסידות, כי דוקא בי' יפקון בני ישראל מבי גלותא ברחמי, וכמו שהאריך בזה הרח"ו בהקדמתו לשער ההקדמות ורבנו הזקן באגרת הקדש שלו סי' כ"ו ובכמה מקומות. וככל התורה הנה גם חלק תורה זה לא נפלאת ולא רחוקה כו' כי קרוב אליך הדבר מאד בפיך (היינו הלימוד בפועל) ובלבבך (עד שנכנס להרגש הלב) לעשותו (מתוסף חיות בחיי היום יומים עד להענינים המעשיים) וכיון שרב הוא בישראל הרי זכות הרבים תלוי בו שעל ידו יתעוררו גם רבים ללימוד זה והנהגות אלו.
כבקשתו אזכיר את כל אלו שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בעת רצון.

I was pleased to receive your letter in which you finally write about your good activities in your surroundings to bring others closer to Torah and mitzvos. Although you write that you are acting according to your limited strength, it is well known from the books in general and especially from Chassidic works that every Jew is a messenger of the Holy One, blessed be He, Creator and Ruler of the world, to make for Him—may He be exalted—a dwelling through spreading Torah and mitzvos. Our master the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya (the halachic authority in the hidden dimension of Torah), and the Shulchan Aruch (the halachic authority in the revealed dimension), writes that regarding this applies the Torah's ruling: "A person's agent is like himself," referring to the Supernal Man upon the throne, so to speak (see Likkutei Torah at the beginning of Parshas Vayikra). Therefore, lofty powers are given to him. May he use them fully; then his environment will change gradually but ultimately to a very great extent. And this depends only on his will.
Certainly it is unnecessary to remind you of the absolute necessity in our generation to also study the inner dimension of Torah as explained in Chassidus. For it is specifically through this that "with this they will go out from exile with mercy," as explained at length by Rav Chaim Vital in his introduction to Shaar HaHakdamos and by our master the Alter Rebbe in his Iggeres HaKodesh section 26 and in many other places.
Like all of Torah, this part too "is not wondrous nor distant... for it is very close to you—in your mouth" (meaning actual study) "and in your heart" (until it enters into heartfelt feeling) "to do it" (so that vitality is added into daily life up to practical matters). And since he has influence among Jews, many people's merit depends on him; through him many will also be inspired toward this study and these behaviors.
As you requested, I will mention all those about whom you wrote at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, at an auspicious time.
I await good news regarding all the above.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that every Jew has unique Divine power as G‑d's messenger to transform their environment through spreading Torah and mitzvos. Studying Chassidus is essential and accessible; one's efforts inspire many others as well.
