In response to your letter in which you write that you merited to meet the Rebbe—the father of the Previous Rebbe—may the memory of the righteous be a blessing for life in the World to Come—in Rostov, etc., and also merited to be at the Purim meal in the year 5689 (1929), surely this memory influences you in matters of thought, speech, and action. For seeing the faces of tzaddikim—and all the more so when one also remembers their words of Torah—penetrates and reaches the very core point of the soul.

I am writing here to arouse you to also influence your surroundings in this regard; that is, to draw them closer to Judaism, and most importantly, to practical mitzvah observance in daily life. It is well known the saying of the Rebbe which we have heard many times from his son, our Previous Rebbe: there is a strong presumption that efforts for outreach do not return empty-handed. I hope for good news from you regarding practical results in all of the above.

Likewise, please inform me about your family situation and how you came to your current place of residence.
