Shalom u'Vrachah!
It has been a few days since I received your letter in which you wrote main points from your life story and what you have experienced, and that now you are in... for several years. You also added that during your wanderings you met with Anash and were jealous of them, as wherever they go they behave according to their conduct as if they are within their own four cubits.
There are two points to note here: a) In everything, one should seek assistance in serving Hashem, and this applies to the trait of jealousy as well—even though in general it is a negative trait, nevertheless jealousy for holiness—kinas sofrim increases wisdom. If not, it remains a negative thing. Therefore, I hope that for you too this feeling will serve to strengthen yourself in matters of Torah and mitzvos, specifically with extra care.
b) Regarding what you wrote that Anash follow their established path—together with this they act according to our holy Rebbe’s instructions to influence their surroundings to draw them closer to Judaism, Torah, and mitzvos. In all times, especially in our time, there are only two possibilities: either one influences or is influenced. Even though someone who comes to a new place can find many excuses about the difficulty of this work etc., no practical work will come from all the excuses. Since all Jews are believers, descendants of believers in Divine Providence, they know that "from Hashem man’s steps are established," and Divine Providence brought them to a particular place at a particular time; surely it is his mission from Above to illuminate his surroundings—to shine with the candle of mitzvah and the light of Torah. Since Hashem does not make unreasonable demands on His creations, he is also given the abilities for this; it depends only on his will.
All these things apply regarding you as well: it is necessary for you to invest yourself (areinwerfen zich) in strengthening Judaism through practical activities in your environment. Perhaps everything you have gone through until now was only preparation for this purpose. It is well known what our Sages ruled: when one opens even the tip of a needle's eye [to G‑d], Hashem opens [for him] like the entrance of a hall.
May it be G‑d’s will that these activities bring additional blessing and success in your shidduch so that you build a Jewish home—a true Jewish home—in Israel.
Blessings for the festival of our joy (in plural), as brought in sefarim: "Yismach Yisrael b’Osav v’Yismach Hashem b’Ma’asav" (Let Israel rejoice in its Maker and let Hashem rejoice in His works), which become united through Torah—as stated in Zohar III p.73a: "Tlat dargin inun Yisrael Oraysa u’Kudsha Brich Hu" (Three levels are Israel, Torah, and the Holy One Blessed be He)—see there.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that while jealousy is usually negative, when directed toward spiritual growth—especially increasing Torah study—it becomes positive. He urges us to use such feelings constructively and actively work to inspire others toward Judaism.
