במענה על מכתבו מז' מנ"א והקודם לו, בו שואל חוות דעתי אדות סידור זמנו לשנה הבע"ל.
הנה לדעתי יקדיש זמנו ללימוד תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות במסירה ונתינה ושקידה אמתית, היינו שקידה לא רק בזמן אלא גם בנפש, ובמילא - גם אחרי הצהרים ילמד בהישיבה, ומובטחני שברצון חזק, הנה יביא החשק ללימוד שיש אצלו לידי פועל טוב, וילמד לא רק בסבלנות כמו שכותב, אלא מתוך עונג.
יוצא מזה - לדעתי - הוא רק המסיבות שבת שעורך בשביל תלמידי בתי בספר של הרשת במקומות שונים, וכמו שכותב בפרטיות במכתבו דט' תמוז. וישמש זה ג"כ סגולה ללמודו הוא במשך כל השבוע, וכהבטחת רבינו הזקן, אשר עי"ז נעשה מוחו ולבו זכים אלף פעמים ככה. והשי"ת יצליחו.

In response to your letter from the 7th of Menachem Av and the previous one, in which you ask my opinion regarding organizing your schedule for the coming year. In my opinion, you should dedicate your time to studying both the revealed Torah and Chassidus with wholehearted devotion and true diligence—meaning diligence not only in time but also in spirit. Therefore, you should also study in the yeshivah during the afternoons. I am confident that with strong willpower, your desire for learning will lead to good results, and you will learn not only with patience as you write but also with pleasure.
The only exception to this—in my opinion—is the Shabbos gatherings you organize for students of the network's schools in various places, as you detail specifically in your letter from the 9th of Tammuz. This will also serve as a segulah for your own learning throughout the week, as our master the Alter Rebbe assures: through this one's mind and heart become a thousand times more refined. May Hashem grant you success.
