Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 4th of Tammuz in which you write that you are studying at... and there are those disturbing you with the claim that you need to help support the household. It is well known from the ruling of our holy Torah that the way a Jewish man receives his livelihood depends only on Hashem, Who nourishes and sustains all. This comes as it is written: 'Im Bechukosai Telechu' (If you walk in My statutes), and Rashi explains: 'that you should labor in Torah.' Therefore, it is understood that when one studies Torah with the necessary dedication—as our Sages say: 'that you should labor in Torah'—it is specifically through this that the promise of the Holy One, blessed be He, will be fulfilled: 'And the land will yield its produce,' etc., and Hashem's blessing will be upon all that a person and his family need.

It is not as some say—that by stopping Torah study (G‑d forbid), Hashem, the Giver of the Torah, will increase his livelihood. There is more to say on this but it is unnecessary. You may show this letter of mine to the yeshivah administration, and surely they too can influence your parents in accordance with what was said above. May Hashem grant you success to share good news in all of the above.

The Rebbe teaches that true livelihood comes from Hashem and diligent Torah study brings blessing both materially and spiritually. One should not be swayed by those who discourage learning for financial reasons; dedication to Torah brings true success.
