נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מכ"ג אד"ר בו כותב ע"ד הביקור במחנם הט' של הרה"ח איש רב פעלים ובעל מרץ עושה גדולות וכו' מוה"ר שמעון שי' יעקובוביץ אשר הרצה הנ"ל בביהכ"נ וביהמ"ד שלו והשומעים שבעו רצון. שבמילא יש לקוות שיכנסו הדברים ללבם ובמילא תקוים גם הבטחת הכתוב, קרוב אליך הדבר מאד בפיך ובלבבך לעשותו. והשי"ת יזכה את כאו"א מאתנו למלאות שליחותו בעלמא דין, כי כל איש הישראלי ה"ה שלוחו כביכול של אדם העליון שעל הכסא, וכמבואר בלקוטי תורה (לרבינו הזקן בעל השו"ע והתניא) ריש פ' ויקרא.
מובן אשר בשליחות זו למלאותה ישנם כמה מניעות ועכובים מגדרו של העולם וחלקו הפרטי של כאו"א, אבל הרי זוהי עצה היעוצה מרז"ל בזה אשר שמחה פורץ גדר, שמחה של מצוה, הן במצות ממש והן בההוראה הכללית שהוא כלל גדול בתורה דבכל דרכיך דעהו, אשר עכ"ז חל מ"ש הרמב"ם בסוף הלכות לולב בענין השמחה. ומסוגלים לזה בפרט ימים אלו ימי אדר דמרבין בשמחה ובפרט בשנה מעוברת שמחמירים (כפסק השו"ע או"ח תקפ"ח סעיף ז') להרבות בשמחה הן באדר ראשון והן באדר שני.

I was pleased to receive your letter from the 23rd of Adar, in which you write about the visit to the ninth camp of Haraha"ch Ish Rav Pe'alim and Ba'al Meretz, who accomplishes great things, etc., Mohar Shimon Yaakovovitz, who gave the aforementioned lecture in his synagogue and study hall, and the listeners were satisfied. Therefore, it is to be hoped that the words will enter their hearts and thus also fulfill the assurance of the verse: Karov eilecha hadavar me'od b'ficha u'vilvavcha la'asoto ("This matter is very close to you, in your mouth and in your heart to do it").
And may Hashem grant each one of us to fulfill his mission in this world, for every Jewish person is, so to speak, a messenger of the Supreme Man upon the throne, as explained in Likkutei Torah (by our master the Alter Rebbe, author of Shulchan Aruch and Tanya) at the beginning of Parshas Vayikra.
It is understood that in this mission there are many obstacles and hindrances from both the nature of the world and each person's individual portion. However, this is precisely where our Sages have given us advice: Simcha breaks through all boundaries—simcha shel mitzvah—both in actual mitzvos and in the general instruction which is a great principle in Torah: B'chol derachecha da'eihu ("In all your ways know Him"). Despite all this, what Rambam writes at the end of Hilchos Lulav regarding joy applies here as well.
These days are especially suited for this—these days of Adar when we increase in joy; particularly in a leap year when we are stringent (as ruled in Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim 688:7) to increase joy both in Adar I and Adar II.

The Rebbe teaches that simcha—especially simcha shel mitzvah—is a powerful tool for breaking through obstacles. Increasing joy during Adar empowers us to fulfill our unique mission despite challenges from within or without.
