Shalom u'Vrachah!
I received your letter in due time in which you write about your health condition.
One should have consulted with his mashpia to arrange his study schedule in a way that does not harm his health at all, as it is already known the ruling of our holy Torah (Rambam Hilchos Deos, beginning of chapter 4) that maintaining a healthy and whole body is among the ways of serving Hashem. Surely you also know the saying of our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe (printed in Hayom Yom, Erev Rosh Hashanah): "No one truly knows how precious is the body of a Jew." Therefore, one must fulfill the instructions of the doctors and ensure that eating, drinking, and rest are arranged as necessary for his bodily health. Then Hashem will also grant success in prayer and Torah study with proper awe of Heaven.
Enclosed is the maamar in which you will also see that the intention behind lacking physical strength applies only when it is under the control of the animal soul, but not G‑d forbid regarding health as it pertains to the G‑dly soul.
Your pidyon nefesh for Yud Shevat was received.
With blessings for success in Torah study and prayer with awe of Heaven in good health.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that caring for one's physical health is essential for spiritual growth. By following medical advice and maintaining proper habits in eating, drinking, and rest, one can better succeed in Torah study and prayer.
