נעם לי לקבל מכתבם מאור יום הילולא של כ"ק רבינו הזקן אשר נתועדו אז יחד, ובטח כפסק תוה"ק נדברו יראי ד' איש אל רעהו ויקשב ה' וישמע ויכתב ספר זכרון גו' שזהו נתינת כח וסיוע מלמעלה על עבודת השי"ת שאחרי זה, כיון שכבר בא לידי כתיבה ובספר זכרון, היינו שאין שייך שם שכחה כי הוא לפני כסא כבודך, ולהעיר מהלכות ת"ת לרבינו הזקן פרק ב' סוף סעיף יו"ד.
בטח כמנהגם הטוב הנ"ל יתועדו ג"כ ביום ההילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע מנהיג הדור בהתעוררות ובקבלת החלטות טובות במחשבה דבור ומעשה בפועל בחיי היום יומים ומוסג"פ המאמר שנאמר ביום ההילולא דאשתקד שיצא זה עתה לאור שתקותי שיסייעם בהנ"ל.
בברכה להצלחה בהליכה בדרכי בעל ההילולא אשר סלל לפנינו ואשר אשתכח עתה גם בעלמא דין יתיר מבחיוהי.

It pleased me to receive your letter from the eve of the yahrzeit of our Rebbe, the Alter Rebbe, when you gathered together. Certainly, as Torah law rules, those who fear G‑d spoke to one another and "the L‑rd listened and heard, and a book of remembrance was written" (Malachi 3:16). This provides strength and assistance from Above for one's service to Hashem that follows. Since it has already come to writing and is in a book of remembrance, there is no possibility of forgetting because it stands before Your glorious throne. See also Hilchos Talmud Torah by the Alter Rebbe, chapter 2 end of section 10.
Surely, as is your good custom mentioned above, you will also gather on the yahrzeit of my father-in-law, the Rebbe — leader of our generation — with inspiration and by accepting good resolutions in thought, speech, and actual deed in daily life. Enclosed is the maamar that was said on last year's yahrzeit which has just now been published; I hope it will assist you in all the above.
With blessings for success in following the path paved before us by the one whose yahrzeit we mark — who is still found with us in this world even more than during his lifetime.
