Brachah v'Shalom!
I received your letter from November 20 in which you write about the situation in business and your husband's health. As you requested, I will mention you at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, for improvement in the above matters.
However, I am surprised that after you spoke with me several times with bitterness about a shidduch for your daughter and viewed it pessimistically, now that Hashem has shown you miracles and she has made a good shidduch, you do not mention even a word about it. Despite this being a happiness for your daughter's entire life—and therefore also a happiness for you and your husband—and when one sees kindnesses from Hashem that one did not expect at all, the very first thing should be to thank Hashem from the depths of one's heart for this. Only afterwards should one complain about matters that are temporarily not as desired.
Of course, I do not mean to say by this that business should go poorly, G‑d forbid, etc., because Hashem wants to give a Jew everything he needs and does not exchange one thing for another. But after all this, one must not overlook what Hashem does for a Jew. When we thank Him for the miracles He has shown us until now—which gratitude is expressed through Torah and mitzvos—this itself helps bring further blessings from Hashem.
And may Hashem help you so that you will report good news about yourself, your husband, and all yours.
With blessing.
In the name of my father-in-law the Rebbe shlita,
Secretary:
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that recognizing G‑d's miracles and expressing sincere gratitude is essential before raising complaints or concerns. Thankfulness opens the path to further blessings and positive outcomes in all areas of life.
