מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מט' טבת, ונהניתי לקרות בו שבדעתו לבוא לחתונת בנו הרה"ח כו'... שי'
ומה שכותב שקשה להסתדר מפני ריבוי ההוצאות, הנה מובן וגם בשכל אנושי שהכסף לעצמו אינו ענין כ"א בתור אמצעי למה שצריכים (או למה שחפצים) וכיון שהרצון להיות נוכח בהחתונה רצון טוב הוא ע"פ תורה ושו"ע, הרי בטח יזמין לו השי"ת גם להוצאות הנסיעה ובמילא עליו רק לבטל המחשבה שאם לא הי' נוסע היו נשארים מעות אלו בכיסו ואין הדבר כן כיון שמלכתחלה ניתנו מלמעלה לתכלית מיוחדה זו...

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 9th of Teves, and I was pleased to read that you intend to come to your son's wedding, the haraha"ch etc... may he live. Regarding what you write about it being difficult to manage due to the many expenses, it is understood—even logically—that money itself is not an end but only a means for what is needed (or desired). Since the desire to be present at the wedding is a good desire according to Torah and Shulchan Aruch, surely Hashem will also provide you with the travel expenses. Therefore, you only need to dismiss the thought that if you did not travel these funds would remain in your pocket; this is not so, since from the outset they were given from Above for this specific purpose...

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that when one has a good and proper intention—such as attending a family simchah—one should trust that Hashem will provide all necessary means, including financial ones. Money is given for its intended purpose from Above.
