I have been informed by his son, the distinguished Avrech Yosef, about the surgery you must undergo. I have mentioned you for a complete recovery so that the surgery will be successful, and may Hashem Yisbarech Veyisaleh send His word for a speedy healing. May you be able to strengthen yourself in Torah study and mitzvah observance and be among those who bring merit to the many, upon whom the merit of the community depends.

Certainly it is unnecessary to remind you that when one witnesses the wonders of Hashem Yisbarech Veyisaleh, one must thank His great Name. This gratitude is expressed by increasing strength in Torah and mitzvah observance. Surely you too will follow this good Jewish custom and add to your Torah study sessions as well as your mitzvah observance in general, and especially in giving tzedakah according to your ability.

It would be proper for you to use your days in Madrid to strengthen the spirits of the young men studying at the yeshivah there so that it will always be engraved in their hearts and minds that their source is generations upon generations of Jews who are G‑d-fearing and scrupulous in fulfilling His word and commandments. When this knowledge and thought are firmly implanted in their hearts and minds at all times, they too will stand strong against all challenges they may face on their path. This alone is the way to success and happiness for every Jew.

I will conclude this letter as I began—with wishes for peace and blessing, a speedy recovery from the Source of all good, much nachas from your family, and especially from your distinguished son Mr. Yosef.
