I received your letter with the pidyon nefesh in due time, which was read at an auspicious time at the resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may the memory of the righteous be a blessing for life in the World to Come), and certainly he will arouse mercy for all those mentioned in the pidyon nefesh, each one for what he needs.
Thank you especially for the booklet of essays in honor of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. May it be G‑d's will that He grant you additional strength and energy to strengthen Judaism and to spread its ideas in general, and especially memories from earlier days about Chassidic life and the conduct of Chassidim. If at all times this was greatly needed, how much more so in our days when the centers of Chassidus in Poland and Galicia etc. are no longer (may G‑d avenge their blood).
Enclosed is a booklet of essays published in connection with the past Rosh Hashanah etc., which will surely interest your honor...

Note: While leafing through your booklet quickly: a) The acronym teshuvah is cited by the Alter Rebbe in the name of Reb Moshe Zvi of Anipoli; its letters stand for "Shivisi Hashem lenegdi tamid" (I have set G‑d before me always), "He—hatznea lechet im Elokecha" (walk humbly with your G‑d). See the explanation at the end of Kuntres Toras HaChassidus. b) Our Sages said: "In the future, King Mashiach will bring back the righteous through teshuvah." See Likkutei Torah Devarim (92b), Shir HaShirim there (50b). Elsewhere it is brought that this saying is from Zohar—but so far I have not found its location. c) The acronym for Elul with source citation and hint for each letter—see introduction to Kuntres Tzad; but it is known that one does not respond to homiletics.
