זה זמן רב שלא שמעתי ממנו ובטח הכל שלום לכבודו ולכל בני ביתו שיחיו.
מוסגר פה מכתב שקבלתי זה עתה מידידנו הרה"ג הרה"ח הוו"ח אי"א עוסק בצרכי ציבור באמונה ספרא רבא, הרב ר' שלמה יוסף שי' זעווין, אשר בטח שמע כבו' אדותיו שהי' אחד מראשי העסקנים הציבוריים ברוסיא ועתה הוא מראשי העסקנים בארצנו הקדושה ת"ו, עורך האנציקלופדיא התלמודית וכו'.
בודאי לכבו' לא נצרך התעוררות בנוגע להענין האמור במכתב המוסגר פה, ובלי ספק יעשה מה שביכלתו בענין זה.
תודתי אמורה לכבו' מראש אם יואיל להודיעני מאשר יעשה בזה, וכן בעד הטרחה להחזיר לי המכתב המוסגר פה אחרי שהשתמש בו.

It has been a long time since I have heard from you, and I trust that all is well with you and your entire household, may they live.
Enclosed here is a letter I have just received from our friend Haraha"g Haraha"ch Havo"ch Iy"a, one who faithfully serves the public, a great scholar, Rabbi Shlomo Yosef Zevin sheyichyeh. Surely you have heard about him—that he was one of the leading public activists in Russia and now is among the foremost activists in our holy land, may it be built and established. He is also the editor of the Talmudic Encyclopedia, etc.
Certainly you do not need encouragement regarding the matter mentioned in the enclosed letter, and without a doubt you will do what you can in this matter.
I thank you in advance if you will kindly inform me of what you do regarding this, as well as for the effort to return to me the enclosed letter after you have used it.
