במענה על מכתבו מיום א' אלול המודיע אשר הנהלת הישיבה קבעה לו ללמוד הלכות מלאכת השחיטה ושואל אם להמשיך בזה,
לפי דעתי נכון הדבר וישתלם הן בשחיטת עופות הן בשחיטת גסות, ומובן [מ]עצמו בלימוד הלכות שחיטה, ויתן השי"ת שיצליח בלימודו.
בטח יש לו קביעת עתים בתורת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ אשר במאמריו שיחותיו ומכתביו. ומה טוב אם הלימוד הוא בחבורה אשר איש את רעהו יחזק ויעורר.
ומובן אשר אין זה פוטר משאר השיעורים אשר כל אחד ואחד מחוייב בהם.
ובכללם שיעורים השוים לכל נפש בחק יומי והם: חומש עם פרש"י, תהלים כמו שנחלק לימי החודש, תניא כפי שנחלק לימי השנה על ידי כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ, אשר כל אלו הם דרכים להתקשרות עם נשיאנו הוא כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ.

In response to your letter from Sunday, Elul 1st, in which you inform that the yeshivah administration has assigned you to study the laws of shechitah (ritual slaughter) and you ask whether to continue with this: In my opinion this is correct, and you should become proficient in both poultry shechitah and cattle shechitah. Of course, this includes studying the laws of shechitah itself. May Hashem grant you success in your studies.
Surely you have set times to study the teachings of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m, through his discourses, talks, and letters. It is even better if this learning is done in a group where each person strengthens and inspires his friend.
It is understood that this does not exempt you from other lessons that everyone is obligated in. Among them are the daily lessons that are equal for every soul: Chumash with Rashi's commentary; Tehillim as divided for the days of the month; Tanya as divided for the days of the year by my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m. All these are ways to connect with our Nasi—my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m.
