בתענוג קראתי מכתבו מי"א מנחם אב. וסיבת התענוג היא
(א) שנסע עם ביתו תי' לנאות דשא. ובטח ינצלו את הזמן להבראת הגוף והבראת הנשמה. ויהי רצון שיהי' בהצלחה.
(ב) שהתחיל להתענין באופן רציני בדבר ההצעה אדות הפראקיעל סקול, ובטח לא ישתמש לזה יותר מדי בטבע המרה-שחורה, וכמבואר בתורה אור תולדות ביאור מים רבים פ"ד, להשתמש בכח המרה שחורה לענין התמדה בלימוד.
(ג) מה שכותב שהתנה בראש אשר אף אם יקבל המשרה בפראקיעל סקול יהי' בתנאי שלא יהי' סתירה לרבנותו, שניתנה לו ע"י כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ.

I read your letter from the 11th of Menachem Av with pleasure. The reason for this pleasure is: (a) that you traveled with your family to pleasant pastures. Certainly you will use this time for both physical and spiritual health. May it be with success. (b) That you have begun to seriously consider the proposal regarding the parochial school, and certainly you will not use too much of a melancholic nature for this, as explained in Torah Or Toldos, Biur Mayim Rabim chapter 4—to use the power of melancholy for diligence in study. (c) What you write that you stipulated at the outset that even if you accept the position at the parochial school it will be on condition that it does not conflict with your rabbinate, which was given to you by my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m.
