Shalom u'Vrachah!
No matter how much you imagine your own spiritual descent, as you describe in your letter to me, it is incomparable to the descent of 'Anochi Ered Imcha Mitzrayma' ("I Myself will go down with you to Egypt") and all the exiles. If one takes something upon themselves but does not act on it—one must actually do something about it—then things become much easier.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that no matter how low we feel we have fallen spiritually, true progress comes from taking concrete action rather than simply resolving to improve. Action makes overcoming challenges much more attainable.
