שאלתי את הרה"ח וכו' הרש"ל שי' ואמר לי שכבר כתב אליו בנוגע לשאלת האיש ש[א]מו נשארה בעיר קיוב ברוסיא.
הרי זוהי שאלה שצריך לשאול אצל רבי ובטח כן יעשה.

In response to your letter from Isru Chag HaSukkos: I asked Haraha"ch etc. Harashl and he told me that he already wrote to you regarding the question about the man whose mother remained in Kiev, Russia. This is a question that should be asked of a Rav, and surely you will do so.
(For practical—not halachic—purposes, in my opinion, he should choose a day and not delay it, on which he will lead prayers before the ark, light candles, study Mishnayos, give tzedakah, and similar acts; but not refer to it as a yahrzeit.)
I must be brief due to the approaching sanctity of Shabbos Kodesh. I will conclude with a saying from my father-in-law, the Rebbe shlita: I will share a word from the Rabbeim in the name of our master the Alter Rebbe, which he heard from his teacher the Maggid in the name of his teacher the Baal Shem Tov: Bereishis Bara (In the beginning He created), 'Reishis' is wisdom—Reishis Chochmah Yiras Hashem (The beginning of wisdom is fear of G‑d). The light and vitality from Chochmah that shines on Shabbos Bereishis extends over the entire year; all days of the year receive from Shabbos Bereishis!
