בעתו קבלתי מכתבם הצעה האמורה, וכיון שלא הי' בידי דבר ממשי להשיב נתעכב המענה.
ועל של עתה באתי, בראותי אשר התכנית במילואה אין הזמן גרמא לכך מפני רוב הטרדות וכו' להביאה בפועל, שלכן מהנכון וכו' לעשות התחלה מעין זו, וזה עתה יצא ראשונה תניא פרק א' עם [מ]

I received your letter regarding the proposal about publishing the holy book Tanya together with a comprehensive commentary and references to the words of our holy Rebbes, etc.—may they live and be well. I did not have anything concrete to reply at the time, so my response was delayed.
Now I am responding, having seen that carrying out the full plan is not possible at this time due to many preoccupations, etc., to bring it into action. Therefore, it is appropriate to make a beginning of this kind; just now the first chapter of Tanya has been published with [commentary] etc., which is enclosed here.
One can say there is Divine Providence in this matter—timely words—based on what is known that the first three chapters of Tanya are discourses (or contain the content of discourses) of Admor HaZaken for the birth of Admor tzt"z, which was on Erev Rosh HaShanah.
With honor and blessings for being inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year. May it be G‑d's will that very soon all that is necessary will be fulfilled: "Yafutzu Maayanosecha Chutzah" ("May your wellsprings spread outward") and then "Kasi Mar Da Malka Meshicha" ("The master will come—that is King Moshiach").
