Shalom u'Vrachah!

In these days, beginning from Gimmel Tammuz—the day of the release and redemption of the Baal HaSimchah and Geulah (the Frierdiker Rebbe) from prison—it is worthwhile to reflect with increased intensity and strength on the story of his imprisonment and redemption. Consider the reason for his imprisonment: his activism in spreading Judaism and supporting Torah everywhere without regard for obstacles or hindrances, and in spreading it as widely, broadly, and deeply as possible. The redemption was, as the Baal HaGeulah himself said, not only his personal redemption but also that of all who cherish our holy Torah, those who observe mitzvot, and even anyone called by the name Israel.

This reflection should lead to action—a practical conduct fitting the hope of the Baal HaSimchah—up to complete fulfillment as befits children whose portion is Hashem Himself. Of each one it is said: "And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." As is known from the Rambam's famous ruling regarding Hashem's words to the Kohanim and Leviim—"I am your portion and inheritance"—these words apply not only to them but to anyone in the world whose spirit moves him and whose mind understands to separate himself to stand before Hashem to serve Him and know Him; he walks upright as G‑d made him and throws off from his neck the yoke of many calculations that people seek. He becomes sanctified as holy of holies; Hashem is his portion and inheritance forever. He will merit in this world what suffices for him just as was given to Kohanim and Leviim—as King David said: "Hashem is my allotted portion and my cup; You support my lot."

May it be His will that one acts like a Kohen or Levi—and does so with joy—and Hashem will redeem them from anything that hinders or prevents them. May they go from strength to strength in studying both revealed Torah and Chassidus, fulfilling mitzvot beautifully, until it can truly be said: "I have been a wonder to many, but You are my strong refuge."

With blessings that they begin utilizing in practice the blessings of the founder of the village—the Baal HaGeulah—for their community.

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from that date etc. The lack of progress in matters of holiness (such as Chabad education etc.) is alarming considering their background—and obviously everyone must act accordingly etc.

May I merit soon to receive good news about them—and regarding their children's education especially—and obviously I do not mean excuses or similar things.
