אין ענטפער אויף דער ידיעה, אַז די יערלעכע מלוה מלכה לטובת די בית רבקה שולעס וועט הייאָר פאָרקומען מוצאי שבת קודש פ' בשלח, שבת שירה, י"ג שבט הבע"ל,

שיחה פון אַלטן רבי'ן, בעל התניא והשולחן ערוך, אין צוזאַמענהאַנג מיט דער סדרה פון דער היינטיקער וואָך: כאָטש די סדרה אַנטהאַלט צוויי שירות – די שירה וואָס משה האָט געזונגען מיט די אידן, און די שירה פון מרים הנביאה מיט די פרויען – איז אָבער פאַר דער הפטרה אויסגעקליבן געוואָרן דוקא אַ שירה פון אַ פרוי – די שירה פון דבורה הנביאה.
דערמיט ווערט אונטערגעשטראָכן, אַז עס זיינען פאַראַן ענינים און געביטן אין אידישן לעבן, אין וועלכע די אידישע פרוי האָט אַ ספּעציעלע און גאָר וויכטיגע שליחות און אויפגאַבע.
איינער פון די דאָזיגע געביטן איז די אָנפירונג און פאַרזיכערונג פון דער אידישער היים, אַז עס זאָל זיין אַ אידישע היים אין פולסטן זין פון וואָרט, דורכגעדרונגען מיט דער ליכטיקייט און וואַרעמקייט פון תורה און מצוות.
דאָס ווערט ווייטער אָנגעדייטעט אין דער היינטיגער סדרה און הפטרה, ווען מען נעמט אין אַכט די אומשטענדן וועלכע האָבן אַרויסגערופן די דערמאָנטע שירות:
אין דער סדרה רעדט זיך פון דער צייט ווען אידן זיינען געווען אין מדבר אויפן וועג איינצונעמען ארץ-ישראל און אויסקעמפן אַ היים פאַר זיך. אין דעם פאַל זיינען די מענער געגאַנגען בראש, און די שירה פון משה רבנו פאַרנעמט דעם אויבן-אָן. אין דער הפטרה רעדט זיך ווען אידן זיינען שוין געווען אין ארץ ישראל און מ'האָט געדאַרפט זאָרגן צו באַשיצן און אויפצוהאַלטן די אידישע היים – דאָ איז

הנביאה געגאַנגען בראש, און ברק בן אבינועם איז געווען טפל צו איר.
און אַזוי אין אַלע צייטן און דורות פאַרנעמט די אידישע פרוי דעם הויפּט אָרט אין אויפהאַלטן און פאַרזיכערן די יסודות פון דער אידישער היים, וואָס דעריבער ווערט זי אָנגערופן

אין די בית רבקה שולעס ווערן דערצויגן אידישע טעכטער, צוקונפטיגע אידישע מאַמעס, אין גייסט פון תורה און מצוות, באַזעלט מיט חסידישע ליכטיקייט און מדות טובות, זיי זאָלן קענען דערפילן אין דער פולסטער מאָס זייער העכסט-וויכטיגע אויפגאַבע אין אידישן לעבן, אין די פוסטריט פון מרים הנביאה און דבורה הנביאה. עס איז צו ערוואַרטן, אַז די דאָזיגע מוסדות פון חינוך הבנות על טהרת הקודש וועלן באַקומען די פולסטע שטיצע.
השם יתברך זאָל העלפן, אַז די יערלעכע אונטערנעמונג און אַלע פעולות פון בית רבקה אַ גאַנץ יאָר זאָלן זיין בהצלחה גדולה, און דער זכות זאָל ביישטיין אַלע עסקנים און פריינט און מיטהעלפער צו באַקומען דעם אויבערשטנ'ס ברכות אין אַלץ וואָס מ'נויטיגט זיך, בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to the notice that this year's annual Melaveh Malkah for the benefit of the Beis Rivkah schools will take place on Motzaei Shabbos Kodesh Parshas Beshalach, Shabbos Shirah, 13 Shevat (may it be for good), it is fitting to recall the well-known talk from the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch, in connection with this week's Torah portion: Although the parsha contains two songs—the song that Moshe sang with the Jews and the song of Miriam the prophetess with the women—nonetheless, for the haftarah they specifically chose a song from a woman—the song of Devorah the prophetess.
This underscores that there are matters and areas in Jewish life where the Jewish woman has a special and very important mission and role. One such area is leading and ensuring that the Jewish home is truly a Jewish home in every sense—imbued with the light and warmth of Torah and mitzvos.
This is further illustrated in this week's parsha and haftarah when considering the circumstances that prompted these songs: In the parsha, it speaks about when Jews were in the desert on their way to conquer Eretz Yisrael and establish a home for themselves. In that case, men led at the forefront, and Moshe Rabbeinu's song takes precedence. In the haftarah, it discusses when Jews were already in Eretz Yisrael and needed to protect and maintain their Jewish home—here Devorah the prophetess led at the forefront while Barak ben Avinoam was secondary to her.
So too throughout all times and generations, it is the Jewish woman who occupies a primary place in upholding and securing the foundations of the Jewish home; therefore she is called "akeres habayis" (mainstay of the home).
In Beis Rivkah schools, Jewish daughters—future Jewish mothers—are educated in a spirit of Torah and mitzvos, imbued with chassidic light and good character traits so they can fully fulfill their most important role in Jewish life following in the footsteps of Miriam HaNeviah and Devorah HaNeviah.
It is to be expected that these institutions for educating girls al taharas hakodesh (in purity) will receive full support.
May Hashem Yisborach help that this annual event—and all activities of Beis Rivkah throughout the year—should be greatly successful. May this merit stand by all activists, friends, and supporters to receive G‑d's blessings in everything needed both materially and spiritually together.
