ויהי רצון שיקובלו תפלותיו בתוככי תפלות כל אחינו בנ"י, ובמיוחד שהיא תפלה שמתפלל בתוככי ירושלים עיר הקודש – ובלשון רבנו הזקן בשלחן ערוך שלו, אשר בתפלה בכל מקום יחזיר פניו כנגד ירושלים,
שנאמר
והתפללו אל ה' דרך העיר אשר בחרת (חלק או"ח, ריש סי' צ"ד) – ויקויימו במילואן ובטוב הנראה והנגלה.

Surely there has already been an opportunity to receive the delegation from the guests who were here that I sent through them to you. The main purpose of this letter is in connection with your birthday in the coming month of Kislev and to express my joy upon hearing that you will pray at the Tzemach Tzedek synagogue in the Old City (may it be rebuilt and established), as is your good custom.
May it be G‑d's will that your prayers be accepted among the prayers of all our brethren among Bnei Yisrael, especially since it is a prayer offered within Jerusalem, the holy city—and in the words of our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe in his Shulchan Aruch: "In prayer, wherever one is, he should turn his face toward Jerusalem," as it is said: "Ve'hitpalelu el Hashem derech ha'ir asher bacharta" (and they shall pray to Hashem through the city You have chosen) (Orach Chaim 94:1)—and may they be fulfilled completely and with revealed good.
This matter is beautifully written in the Tehillim chapter corresponding to your years—as is our custom based on what was received from our teacher by way of his teacher, our master the Baal Shem Tov—to recite the Tehillim chapter matching one's age: "Elokim nitzav b'adat Kel" (G‑d stands in the Divine assembly), and our Sages of blessed memory explained its meaning: that the Holy One Blessed Be He is present in synagogues. It is well known that "nitzav" means a firm standing—standing strong through all challenges—and as is well known: "nitzavim kayamim ve'omdim" (they stand firm and enduring).
With appreciation and respect and heartfelt wishes for long days and good years filled with activity—with health, joy, and gladness of heart.
