ובפרט שבמדינת ספרד יש ענין מיוחד להחיות ולהפיץ עניני התורה והיהדות, שהרי בה מסרו יהודים נפשם עליהם, ועל אחת כמה וכמה שעכשיו יכולים לשמור ולקיים מתוך הרחבה, שבודאי צריך לעשות זה בשמחה ובטוב לבב.
תודה מיוחדת על כתבו על דבר ביקור הרבנים השלוחים הנכבדים, ומשנה תודה על שלקח על עצמו להפיץ החוברות ועניני דפוס שהו"ל, ובודאי יעשה כל התלוי בו שהחוברות יפעלו פעולתם במעשה בפועל, כי

I was pleased to receive your letter with your New Year's blessing, and whoever blesses is blessed from the Source of blessings—He, may He be blessed and exalted—from His full, open, holy, and generous hand.
I enjoyed reading in your letter about your activities in spreading Judaism and the wellsprings in your community. May it be G‑d's will that the saying of our Sages of blessed memory be fulfilled for you and all members of the community: "One who has a maneh desires two hundred," etc.—meaning that the success and achievements so far will spur and increase the desire and will to ascend in holiness and go from strength to strength with the power of Torah.
Especially since in the country of Spain there is a special matter to revive and spread Torah and Judaism, for there Jews gave their lives for them; how much more so now when one can observe and fulfill them with abundance—certainly this should be done with joy and gladness of heart.
Special thanks for writing about the visit of the distinguished rabbinic emissaries, and double thanks for taking upon yourself to distribute the booklets and printed materials that were sent. Surely you will do everything possible so that these booklets have their intended effect in actual deed, for action is paramount.
This is particularly fitting as you wrote that your birthday falls on Yom Kippur—to enter the new year with resolute decisions to spread G‑d's Torah, a Torah of life, and His mitzvos about which it is said "and you shall live by them," wherever your influence reaches—how much more so in your immediate surroundings. When one shows a living example and speaks words that come from the heart, it is certain they will enter the heart and have their effect.
I am enclosing a copy of a general letter which you will surely find interesting and beneficial.
