מכתבו מיום א' מקץ זה עתה נתקבל, וכיון שנתאחר קצת דרך הילוכו והענין כנראה דחוף נשלח המכתב מהיר דחוף ג"כ.
בנוגע להצעת המשרה בקשר עם הרעזידנשל קולג' שעומד להפתח בשנת תשל"ב, אשר כנראה יחסו לההצעה וכן יחס ידידיו וכו' חיובי הוא, שלכן הנני מהסס קצת במענה שלי, שהרי לדעתי כשרונו המיוחד במקצוע שלו בשטח המדע דורש התרכזות, לנצל כשרונו במילואו, שעל ידי זה יוכל להרים קרן היהדות, כי בתקופתנו בפרט כשרואים ושומעים שאחד שמצטיין בשטח מדעי באופן מיוחד והוא ממתי מספר בחכמה זו בכל העולם, וביחד עם זה מדייק בתורה ומצוותי' בהידור ומחנך בני ביתו באופן זה וכו', הרי יש בזה קידוש השם ברבים וחיזוק היהדות דרבים וכו'.
הסברה שמשרה זו תדרוש רק חלק מזמנו, הרי כפי שרואני מהתכנית הלואי אשר כל היום יספיק למילוי התפקיד כדבעי, כוונתי להשפיע על הנמצאים שם באופן הרצוי וכו'.
ואולי יש למצוא פתרון אם ימצאו מועמד מתאים לתפקיד וכ' יהי' רק המפקח וכדומה, וכמובן שיהי' באופן שיהי' המועמד מוראו עליו ויעשה רצונו דמר.

Regarding the job offer connected with the Residential College that is set to open in the year 5732, it appears that both your attitude toward the offer and that of your friends is positive. Therefore I am somewhat hesitant in my response. In my opinion, your unique talent in your field of science requires concentration so you can utilize your abilities to their fullest. Through this you will be able to elevate the standing of Judaism. Especially in our times when we see and hear that someone who excels in a scientific field—one of very few worldwide—and at the same time is meticulous in Torah and mitzvos observance with excellence and educates his family accordingly, this brings public sanctification of G‑d's name and strengthens Judaism for many.
The reasoning that this position will only require part of your time—based on what I see from the program, I doubt even an entire day would suffice to fulfill the role properly; my intention is to influence those present there as desired.
Perhaps a solution can be found if a suitable candidate for the position is found and you would serve only as supervisor or similar. Of course it should be arranged so that the candidate respects your authority and will carry out your wishes.
