Shalom u'Vrachah!
After the longest break during which I received no news from you at all, and especially none of your publications—regarding news I did inquire and received updates through our mutual friends, but as for your publications—I was most pleasantly surprised to receive the book "Ginzey Mishnah."
Beyond the essential matter of revealing the hidden treasures of our Torah, and specifically the teachings of the Tannaim, there is also here the concept of "beautifying mitzvos before Him," that it was published with excellence, etc. If in all eras we are commanded to beautify mitzvos before Him, how much more so in our time when externality holds such sway; there are many whose way to draw them to good things—and there is nothing good but the living waters of our Torah—is to begin with external beauty. For your honor this does not require lengthy explanation.
May it be G‑d's will that you continue publishing the Torah of the early sages. And from one matter to another in this same vein: may you succeed in revealing within later generations the Torah of those early sages who invested their soul and essence into their Torah; my intent is to reveal within your students—both directly and indirectly—the inner light within their souls, who are descendants of those early sages like angels and even back to our forefathers Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov—a revelation that will be expressed in daily life [unlike certain circles in this country who fulfill their obligation only three times (days) a year], and up to actual deed.
With honor and blessing,
M. Schneersohn
P.S. I have taken your book and will return it; these days a volume of Sefer HaErachim Chabad has been published and will be sent to you by mail. Surely it will interest you.
Summary
The Rebbe highlights the value of publishing Torah scholarship with beauty and care, emphasizing that such efforts help reveal both the teachings and inner spiritual light of earlier sages—an influence meant to inspire daily Jewish life and practice.
