בהמשך להידיעה שקבלתי אודות חזרת מר לאה"ק ת"ו והפ"ש שמסר לאנשי שלומנו,
נעם לי לקבל עתה מכתבו בו כותב שדבר עם אישים בתוכן שיחתנו, וכלם הקשיבו לדברים בענין רב. והנני מודה למר על זה ומקוה שהיו דברים היוצאים מן הלב. ולא עוד אלא גם באותו חלק שיחתנו שלא הסכים מר אתי, ולא נגע זה במסירת הדברים כפי שאמרתים. ותודה גם על זה.
מתחילה הי' בדעתי לשאול את מר גם על דבר התגובה לדברי והתקוות שלי אודות כמה ענינים (אשר לדעתי מהכי חשובים הם לעמנו,
גוי
אחד בארץ, ארץ הקודש וחוץ לארץ גם יחד). אלא שבאה המציאות וענתה על כל פנים בנוגע לתגובת אחדים מהאישים אודותם כותב – להתגרות בגוי גדול ועוד יותר מאשר לפנים, והחרפת היחסים יותר מאשר עד עתה, ומוסיף והולך בזה, ושיחות מאחורי הפרגוד על דבר ויתור נוסף על ויתור וכו'.
בכל זה תקותי שאין זו תגובת הרוב במצב ההוה, ולכן תודתי מראש באם אדע האם היתה תגובה חיובית עכ"פ מהמיעוט של האישים אתם דבר. והרי בתקופתנו תקופת החילופים ותמורות וכו' המיעוט דיום זה אפשר שיהי' רוב מכריע מחר או מחרתיים.
תקותי אשר פירושו בסיום מכתבו נכון הוא, כוונתי להחתימה "ציון וירושלים השלמה" – היינו כפי שדברנו, שלילת

גם כן, ובפרט אשר שותפות זו הרי היא של שלשה שותפים, זאת אומרת שנים נגד אחד. ולאחר שיחתנו ובפרט בעת שמחה הקשורה בתורה, תורת אמת, בודאי אין צורך להוסיף בזה.
ויהי רצון אשר מתאים לימי חנוכה אלו יתוסף באור לכל בני ישראל בכל מקום שהם, וכמאורע דימי חנוכה נצחון בני ישראל הנאמנים לה' ולתורתו על המתיוונים, ולחנך העם על כל השכבות שלו בחינוך של חנוכה (חנוך-ה) בכל נקודות האמורות.

Following the information I received about your return and the report you gave to our colleagues, I was pleased to now receive your letter in which you write that you spoke with individuals about the content of our conversation, and all listened to the matters with great interest. I thank you for this and hope that these were words that came from the heart. Moreover, even regarding that part of our conversation where you did not agree with me, this did not affect your conveying the matters as I stated them. Thank you for this as well.
At first, I intended to ask you also about the reaction to my words and my hopes regarding several matters (which in my opinion are among the most important for our people: one nation in the land, Eretz HaKodesh and the Diaspora together). However, reality has already answered—at least concerning the reaction of some of those individuals about whom you write: provoking a great nation even more than before, worsening relations more than until now, continuing further in this direction, and behind-the-scenes talks about further concessions upon concessions, etc. In all this, my hope is that this is not the reaction of the majority in the current situation; therefore I thank you in advance if I can know whether there was a positive reaction at least from a minority of those with whom you spoke. For in our era—a time of changes and transformations—the minority of today may become a decisive majority tomorrow or soon after.
I hope that your interpretation at the end of your letter is correct—my intention in signing "Tziyon v'Yerushalayim HaShleimah" (Zion and complete Jerusalem) was as we discussed: rejection of partnership as well—especially since this partnership is among three partners; that is, two against one. And after our conversation—and especially during a celebration connected to Torah, Torah of truth—certainly there is no need to add further on this.
May it be G‑d's will that in accordance with these days of Chanukah there will be an increase in light for all Jews wherever they are; just as during Chanukah—the victory of Jews faithful to Hashem and His Torah over those who assimilated—and to educate all layers of our people with Chanukah education (Chinuch-Heh) on all these points mentioned above.
