של האנציקלופדי' התלמודית, ואתאפק לא אוכל מלהביע גודל ההתרשמות והשמחה לראות כרך נוסף זה, אשר אף שגם הכרכים שקדמוהו גדולים הם בגדלות האמיתית היא גדלות תורתנו, אשר

מארץ מדה ורחבה מני ים, הרי
כל כרך הנוסף
– כפי שכמדומה לי אמרתי לכת"ר בשיחתנו – לא רק שמוסיף ביאור בכמה ענינים ובכמה כללים בכלל גדול ובכלל סתם דתורה, אלא גם מוסיף בכל הכרכים הקודמים, [וכדיבורנו אז, אשר שונה ענין אנציקלופדי' ששלימות האמיתית של כרך הראשון תלוי הוא גם בכרך האחרון וערך האחרון אשר בו, וכמובן].
ובהמשך שיחתנו מאז, הרי כאן המקום להזכיר עוה"פ ועוה"פ בכל לשון של בקשה וכו'

ההוצאה לאור של הכרכים הבאים בזריזות

גדולה, ובנוסח הידוע יפה שעה אחת קודם, אשר כאמור נוגע הדבר לכל הכרכים אשר כבר הופיעו וכו' וכו'. ובודאי לדכוותי' דמר אין צורך בביאור נוסף.

ה' יצליח ביד כל המשתתפים במפעל הכי נעלה האמור, להו"ל כרך אחר כרך, וכאמור בזריזות האפשרית, ועד שיברכו בקרוב על המוגמר, ולאחרי זה להתחיל תיכף במהדורה שני' (או הוספות וכו') שהרי בודאי עצם הופעת הכרכים מוסיף בחידושי תורה בכלל ובסוג דאנציקלופדי' זו במיוחד, וכנ"ל אשר ארוכה מארץ מדה.
ובזה מענה ג"כ על הטענה ששמעתי אותה כמה פעמים, שעיכוב ההופעה הוא מפני ההשתדלות שתהי' בשלימות יותר ויותר וכו', אשר נוסף לַתשובה שאם כן אין לדבר סוף, הנה כנ"ל אי אפשר שלא יתחדשו, ובודאי כבר נתחדשו כמה ענינים בערכים שכבר הופיעו, ולא עוד אלא שדוקא זהו מנפלאות התורה,

ורצונו של הקב"ה, שהיא מעין ומקור מים חיים המפכים הלוך והוסיף, וכדברי המורה הגדול הוא הרמב"ם בסיום וחותם ספרו –

הארץ דעה את הוי' כמים לים מכסים.
בכבוד ובברכה, ובפרט בברכת הצלחה בהאמור, לבשר טוב בקרוב ממש מהופעת כרך הי"ד, הט"ו וכו'.
כדרכי, ארשה לי להוסיף הערה בנוגע להאנציקלופדי', אשר מכבר עלתה בדעתי ונתחזקה ביותר בקבלת כרך זה, שחלקו החשוב הוא בענין חזקה, והיא: אשר כדאי להוסיף לביאור הערכים שמות הספרים המבארים עניני הערך במיוחד ובפרטיות וכו', ורגיל הוא בכמה אנציקלופדיות להוסיף בסוף הערכים (ובפרט הערכים החשובים) מה שנקרא עתה בשם "ביבליאוגרפי'", רשימת ספרים ומקורות כו', ובפרט שבנידון דידן לא תהי' בזה טירחה (יתירה), שהרי בודאי כל אחד שעסק בערך מסויים השתמש ומשתמש בספרים אלה, ואין צורך כי אם לברר הַישנם עוד וכו'.
ואף שכבר הופיעו כמה כרכים ואין בהם ביבליאוגרפי' האמורה, הרי ודאי שאין בנידון דידן הדין

להוציא לעז על הראשונים", ובפרט שנתוסף הענין על ידי המו"ל של הראשונים, ולהשלים הביבליאוגרפי' של הערכים שכבר הופיעו הרי יש מקום להו"ל חוברת מיוחדת של ביבליאוגרפי' לערכים אלו, [בפורמט והאותיות של האנציקלופדי'].
פשוט, אשר אף שלכל ערך ישנם בתוך הערך כמה מראה מקומות וכו' [אשר נחוצים ומוכרחים הם
ביותר
] ובעשירות רבה, אבל אין בהם התועלת הצפוי' לביבליאוגרפי' האמורה, ובפרט אשר המראה מקומות רבים הם, ולא כל מוחא סביל לבחור מביניהם מה הם ספרי היסוד והמיוחדים וכו'.
את כת"ר הסליחה על הערות אלו, ותקותי אשר ידונו עליהן וזכות הרבים מסייעת,
ומבשרי אחזה
גודל התועלת הצפוי'.

I received volume 5G of the Encyclopedia Talmudit, and I cannot restrain myself from expressing my great impression and joy at seeing this additional volume. Although the previous volumes are already great in the true greatness—that is, the greatness of our Torah, which is longer than the land and wider than the sea—each new volume not only adds clarification to many topics and general principles in Torah but also enhances all previous volumes. As I believe I mentioned during our conversation, the true completeness of the first volume depends on the last volume and its final entry, as is self-evident.
Continuing our conversation then, this is an opportunity to once again request—in every possible way—that the upcoming volumes be published with utmost speed, as is well known: "an hour earlier is better," since this affects all previously published volumes as well. Certainly for your honor there is no need for further explanation.
May it be G‑d's will that He grant success to all participants in this most lofty endeavor—to bring out one volume after another as quickly as possible—so that soon you may recite a blessing on its completion. Afterward, you should immediately begin a second edition (or additions), since surely the very appearance of these volumes increases Torah innovations in general and especially in this type of encyclopedia. As mentioned above: "longer than the land."
This also answers a claim I've heard several times: that delays are due to striving for ever greater perfection. Besides the answer that if so there would be no end to it, as noted above it is impossible not to have new insights; surely many new points have already arisen regarding entries already published. Moreover, this is precisely one of Torah's wonders—its wisdom and G‑d's will—that it is like a fountain and source of living waters that constantly flow and increase. As the great teacher Rambam concludes his book: "The earth will be filled with knowledge of Hashem as water covers the sea."
With respect and blessing—especially blessings for success in this matter—to soon share good news about publication of volumes Daled, Tet Vav, etc.
As usual, allow me to add a comment regarding the Encyclopedia Talmudit—a thought I've had for some time which was strengthened upon receiving this volume whose important section deals with Chazakah: It would be worthwhile to add to each entry a list of books that explain its topics in detail—what is now called a bibliography—especially since in many encyclopedias such lists are appended at the end of important entries. In our case this would not even be much extra work since anyone who worked on an entry surely used these books; it only remains to clarify if there are others.
Even though several volumes have already appeared without such bibliographies, certainly there is no issue here about "casting aspersions on earlier ones," especially since later publishers have added value; to complete bibliographies for existing entries one could even publish a special booklet (in the same format and typeface).
Of course each entry already contains many references—which are necessary and abundant—but they do not provide the expected benefit of a bibliography; especially since there are so many references that not everyone can discern which are foundational or unique works.
Please forgive these comments; I hope they will be considered favorably—and merit for the public assists—and from my own experience I see how great their benefit could be.
