My strong hope is that you have already received a personal message from me through the guests who visited here, especially through Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz and the representatives of the group of guests. Surely they also fulfilled my mission regarding Nachalat Har Chabad, just as it was with Kfar Chabad which merited, during the lifetime of my revered father-in-law the Rebbe in this world, to be established and founded by his active force, etc. So may it be regarding Nachalat Har Chabad, whose settlers are mainly Chabad chassidim from the mountain region of that country.

And although the funding for the development of Nachalat Har Chabad comes mainly from the offices in that country, I also wish to participate in its establishment and expansion—especially since there will certainly be a need for special financial expenses. Therefore I have taken the liberty to send a check for twenty hundred shekels (in connection with the twentieth year), written in your name. Surely you will not mind this effort, just as it was regarding my participation in matters of Kfar Chabad which was also through you.

May it be G‑d's will that these settlements will be established among all the cities and towns and settlements in that country—a land upon which "the eyes of Hashem are always upon it from the beginning of the year to its end," growing ever more established and expanding; especially Shikun Chabad in Jerusalem our holy city—the city of our great King, King of kings, the Holy One blessed be He. And soon may we merit fulfillment of the prophecy that Jerusalem will spread throughout all Eretz Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael will spread throughout all lands.

A special thanks for the pleasure and honor you brought by sending your personal representative here—Rabbi Adin—besides giving me an opportunity to get to know him personally. I found in him many qualities beyond what I had been told or written or described about him before. May he use them fully; may his humility help him do so but not exceed proper measure—for apparently until now it has caused some delay in utilizing his abilities as needed. Although it's hard to find a middle path between two extremes—especially regarding humility which should lean toward its lower extreme (as explained at length by Rambam Hilchot Deot ch. 2 halachah 3, and by Rabbeinu HaZaken in Shulchan Aruch sec. 156 par. 3)—still one must find this proper measure, especially someone with influence.

On another matter—though it deserves its own letter—a special thank you for the most precious gift: a photocopy booklet from the estate of Reb Avraham Chaim Rozenboim, one of the famous chassidim of his time; he is mentioned several times in my revered father-in-law's memoirs (and apparently also printed in Sefer HaSichos—summer 5709 p.120). I am looking through it to see if there are discourses there not yet published.

And as a special personal pleasure I appreciated your sending me also two books: Tzofecha Tzfat and Nasi VeSofer. As is customary among Jewish men—an ancient custom—to offer comments: I will make one small remark: It is surprising that in Nasi VeSofer there are no more pictures except for one at the beginning; nor any facsimiles; nor a list of books or articles he published etc. Surely all this will be included in a future edition soon; perhaps due to lack of time it was not included now.

Summary

The Rebbe encourages active support for community building while emphasizing humility balanced with effective use of one's abilities. He values personal connections and thoughtful gifts as means to strengthen communal bonds and spiritual growth.
