In continuation to my previous letter which was surely received in its time, although it is surprising that no confirmation was received, during the days since its sending your letter from the 22nd of Sivan and the one following it were received. In it you write about the decision regarding signing checks and treasury matters and managing accounts, although even there there is no information about actual implementation.

b) There was a visit here—and a strong one etc.—from Mr. G. shiy" (may he live), who visited the synagogue during his stay in our holy city in recent weeks. As is his custom everywhere—he prefers to make such visits without notifying in advance; therefore he did not meet anyone from the synagogue administration or members etc., but saw and witnessed with his own eyes that nothing has been added to repairing the building since his last visit there about twenty months ago. In his subsequent visit to our friend shiy", he also expressed to him his greatest astonishment at this situation as well as his protest against this conduct. He got the impression that our friend agreed with him on this matter, and even the mayor joined him and also agrees—and even more so etc.—that they should transfer the sum he donated etc.

It is certainly unnecessary to add that as is natural for every donor—especially for a significant amount—it is impossible to enter into arguments and debates with him, especially when he says that he himself saw and checked etc., which by the way is his practice regarding institutions for which he donates. My intention here is not to cause you distress, but since this concerns practical matters I came to point out that even regarding the sum he donated—since one does not transfer funds from one charity to another and since repairs are not being made to the synagogue—in any case you will have to return to him specifically for this purpose the sum he donated. This affects Mr. G.'s attitude toward other institutions here and in our holy city as well as regarding the dental clinic, in addition to its influence on our friend etc. etc.

I delayed sending this for several weeks hoping perhaps eventually something would happen practically—but apparently I have still not merited good news in this regard.
