הנני לאשר קבלת מכתבו עם המצו"ב. ולאחר בקשת הסליחה, מוכרחני לכתוב תגובתי כפי שהיתה, אשר בקבלת מכתבו תמהתי על סגנונו ועוד יותר המשמע בין השטין, שכאילו ישועה גדולה ופורקן כהיום הזה כיוון שהושג הסכם וכולי.
ולאחרי שראיתי שגם במכ"ע מפרסמים ידיעות כאלו בשם האגודה ובהדגשה, נתוסף צער על התמהון, שאפילו את"ל שעי"ז יגדילו שם האגודה בודאי שאסור בהחלט לעשות זה על חשבון היזק לחינוך של בני ובנות ישראל.
ובפרט שההגדלה האמורה בספק גדול מוטלת, שהרי סוף סוף יתברר המצב ותוכן ההשגים האמורים, ומובן איך יתפרשו פרסומים הנ"ל וד"ל.

עכבתי משלוח המכתב לכמה ימים כיון שחכיתי לידיעות נוספות משם. ובעוה"ר ובצער רב אשרו הידיעות הנוספות ע"ד ה"השגים" ומצב האיום, בפרט נוסף שלעסקני האגודה באהקת"ו הודיעו המצב בכל פרטיו, שכמובן גם זה מצער שההודעה אליהם צריכה היתה לבוא על ידי אחרים, אף שלכאורה זה צריך הי' להיות מתפקידם הם ומתפקידם הראשי.
פשוט שאין בכל הכתוב כל רצון כלל וכלל לנהל מחלוקת עם מישהו או לזלזל בכבודו של מישהו, אלא שכולי האי ואולי יואיל לעתיד עכ"פ.

I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter with its enclosures. After asking forgiveness, I must write my response as it truly is: upon receiving your letter I was surprised by its tone and even more so by what was implied between the lines—that there is a great salvation and deliverance on this day because an agreement was reached, etc.
After seeing that such reports are also being published in certain newspapers in the name of the organization—and with emphasis—my astonishment and distress increased. Even if it would only increase the organization's name for a few hours, it is certainly absolutely forbidden to do so at the expense of harming the education of Jewish boys and girls.
Especially since this supposed increase is highly questionable; after all, eventually the situation and the true content of these achievements will become clear, and it is obvious how such publications will then be interpreted.
It is unnecessary to add that when I received information about the reception and reactions on Backman Street from the emissary who came from there and described the situation truthfully, my astonishment and distress were even greater.
May it be G‑d's will that there will soon be revealed salvation as there was "in those days at this time," "light—this is Torah," etc., and light in its literal sense to the Jewish people in all their communities, especially in that city.

P.S. I delayed sending this letter for several days because I was waiting for further information from there. Unfortunately—and with much sorrow—the additional reports confirmed regarding these achievements and the dire situation, especially that activists of the organization in that city were informed of all details by others; obviously this too is distressing since they should have been informed directly as part of their primary responsibilities.
It goes without saying that nothing written here is intended to create controversy or belittle anyone's honor; rather, perhaps this will help for the future at least somewhat.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that organizational prestige must never come at the cost of children's education or truthfulness. Honest reporting and prioritizing core values are essential for genuine communal success.
