הנני לאשר בזה קבלת מכתבו מז' טבת עם החומר המצורף אליו - דפי קריאה, חוברות וכו' על רבנו הזקן מחולל תנועת חב"ד - בעד תלמידי בתי הספר.
ובודאי למותר להדגיש גודל ערך עצם הענין הקשור בהפצת ערכי היסוד של התורה והיהדות, ובפרט בין בני הנוער, אשר כל השפעה טובה עליהם בעודם צעירים מביאה פירות ופירי פירות במשך כל ימי חייהם. ולכן אין צורך בהבעת תודה מצדי בעד מעשה רב שעשה, כי שכר מצוה מצוה. אבל תודתי אמורה לו בעד שימת לבבו וטרחתו לשלוח לי כל החומר, תודה רבה.
ויהי רצון שיראה פרי טוב בעמלו בכלל, ובעמלו בענין האמור בפרט, אשר תלמידי הכתות השונות שיקראו וילמדו חומר זה על דבר גאון ישראל ותפארתו, אישיותו ותורתו של רבנו הזקן, יהי' זה לימוד המביא לידי מעשה, הנהגה מיוסדת על אהבת ה' אהבת התורה ואהבת ישראל, חדורה אור וחיות חסידותיים, יחוד הלב והמ[ו]ח גם יחד.
ולאחרי השיחה שהיתה בינותינו, שזכרונה כמובן שמור אצלי, בודאי שאין כל צורך להאריך בגודל ערך נקודות האמורות ועניניהן. ומגלגלין זכות ליום זכאי, שהיום הוא יום היא"צ-הילולא של רבנו הזקן.
בהמשך לענין הנ"ל ארשה לי לצרף בזה העתק מכתב כללי לראש השנה בקשר עם שנת השמיטה דהאי שתא. וכן לעורר תשומת לבו, אף שבטח כבר הובא זה לידיעת כבודו, שהשנה היא שנת ה-100 להסתלקות נכדו (וממלא מקומו) של אדמו"ר הזקן, הנודע על שם ספריו בשם אדמו"ר ה"צמח צדק".

I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 7th of Teves with the attached materials—reading sheets, booklets, etc.—about our master the Alter Rebbe, founder of the Chabad movement, intended for school students.
It is certainly unnecessary to emphasize the great value of this very matter connected with spreading the fundamental values of Torah and Judaism, especially among youth. Every positive influence on them while they are young yields fruit and fruit of fruit throughout their lives.
Therefore, there is no need for me to express thanks for your significant deed, for "the reward of a mitzvah is a mitzvah." However, my thanks are due to you for your attention and effort in sending me all this material—thank you very much.
May it be G‑d's will that you see good fruit from your labor in general and particularly regarding this matter: that students from various classes who read and study this material about the genius and glory of Israel—his personality and teachings—of our master the Alter Rebbe, may this learning lead to action—a conduct founded on love of G‑d, love of Torah, and love of Israel—imbued with chassidic light and vitality, uniting heart and mind together.
And after our conversation—which I certainly remember—there is surely no need to elaborate on the great value of these points and their details.
And merit is brought about on a meritorious day; today is the yahrzeit-hilulah (anniversary) of our master the Alter Rebbe.
In continuation to the above matter I allow myself to enclose here a copy of a general letter for Rosh Hashanah regarding this Shemittah year. Also to bring to your attention—though you have surely already been informed—that this year marks 100 years since the passing (and succession) of the grandson of Admor HaZaken (the Alter Rebbe), known by his works as Admor HaTz"t"z (tzt"z).
