במענה למכתבו מכ"ו סיון, בו שואל ע"ד בן אחיו שי' הרוצה ללמוד שנים אחדות בישיבה, והשאלה אם יכנס אחרי כן בקבוץ דתי וכו'.
ולדעתי כיון שהענין נוגע לאחרי שילמוד משך זמן בישיבה, לימוד תורתנו הק' תורת חיים, אשר כדברי רבנו הזקן בספר תניא קדישא שלו, שהתורה נקראת בשם לחם ומזון הנפש, וע"י הלימוד כדבעי, מתאחדת עם נפש הלומד והיו לאחדים, ונעשה מזון לנפש וחיים בקרבה מחיי החיים אין סוף ברוך הוא וכו' (תניא פרק ה'),
הרי עפי"ז אין כדאי להחליט עתה מה שיעשה לאחרי לימוד האמור, שהרי התקוה ע"פ האמור שיתעלה ע"י לימוד זה, ויחליט בהתאם למצבו אז.
התקוה חזקה אשר ידוע לכ' פרשת ימי י"ב וי"ג תמוז גאולת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא דורנו.
ויהי רצון שיתעורר ויוסיף כאו"א בעניני תורה ומצות ובהפצת היהדות ועניני' לקרוב ולרחוק ומתוך שמחה וטוב לבב.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 26th of Sivan, in which you ask regarding your nephew who wishes to study for several years in yeshiva, and whether he should later join a religious kibbutz, etc.
In my opinion, since this matter concerns what will happen after he studies for a period in yeshiva—studying our holy Torah, the Torah of life—which, as our master the Alter Rebbe writes in his holy Tanya, is called the bread and nourishment of the soul; and through proper study, it unites with the soul of the learner and they become one, becoming nourishment for the soul and life within it from the Source of Life, Ein Sof Baruch Hu (see Tanya ch. 5)—based on this, it is not worthwhile to decide now what he should do after this period of study. The hope is that through this learning he will be elevated and will decide according to his situation then.
The hope is strong—especially as you know about the upcoming days of Yud-Beis and Yud-Gimmel Tammuz, the redemption of our leader the Previous Rebbe, Nasi of our generation. May it be G‑d's will that everyone be inspired to add in matters of Torah and mitzvos and in spreading Judaism and its values to both near and far—and all with joy and gladness of heart.
