Members of Moshav Bar Giora, in our holy land may it be rebuilt and established speedily in our days through Moshiach Tzidkeinu—may Hashem be upon them for life.
Shalom u'Vrachah!
I pleasantly received the letter from the seventh on the eighth, that is, the month of Marcheshvan, signed by several residents of your camp, bringing good news about the farbrengen on that day, receiving the pidyon nefesh from here, etc. Certainly, as is customary among Bnei Yisrael when gathering together in a group of ten or more—as our Sages have informed us: "Wherever ten are gathered, the Shechinah rests." Our master the Alter Rebbe [author of Tanya—the halachic authority in the esoteric dimension of Torah—and Shulchan Aruch—the halachic authority in the revealed dimension] explained—what he heard from his teachers (the great Maggid of Mezritch and his teacher the Baal Shem Tov)—that even if they are not speaking words of Torah, still the resting of the Shechinah is so intense that if even one angel were present there, he would be overcome with infinite awe and fear from the Shechinah resting upon them to such an extent that he would be completely nullified out of existence (see Iggeres HaKodesh ch. 23). All the more so am I certain that at this farbrengen there was discussion of Torah and inspiration for mitzvos.
May it be G‑d's will that this farbrengen will extend its influence over the coming days, weeks, and months for good—to increase in Torah study and fulfillment of mitzvos with health, livelihood, joy, and gladness of heart.
May it be G‑d's will that I hear good news about all this; after all we are now standing on Erev Chodesh Kislev—the month of miracles and redemption.
With honor and blessing for good tidings.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that when Jews gather—even without explicit Torah discussion—the Divine Presence rests among them powerfully. Such unity brings blessings for learning Torah and fulfilling mitzvos with joy and success.
