Last night, his son... shiyichyeh visited me, and we spoke at length about these matters I discussed with your honor, shiyichyeh. May it be G‑d's will that it will benefit the many, especially since in two weeks there will be the gathering of the Rabbinical Association, in which his son the rabbi shiyichyeh also participates. I requested and urged him to use his influence there in all matters.

However, his son the rabbi shiyichyeh does not believe so much in his influence; moreover, he views the situation in an unhappy light, which naturally weakens his enthusiasm for action in this area. As explained at the beginning of chapter 26 in Tanya regarding the effect of sadness (as opposed to bitterness—as written there in chapter 31). Certainly your honor as well will encourage and uplift his spirit. It is well known that when one is involved with matters of Torah and mitzvos, one fulfills the mission of the Supreme Being; then, so to speak, "the agent of a person is like himself," as explained in Likkutei Torah Parshas Vayikra. Consequently, success is increased. Observing also the relationship his son the rabbi shiyichyeh has toward him, I am certain that your words will make a strong impression on your son shiyichyeh regarding this.

It is already well known from the prophet about the generation of Mashiach that even "the weak one will say: I am strong," especially those who have merited to have influence over circles of Jewish sons and daughters.

I received your letter from the 4th of Tammuz, where you write about your health. I will mention you for a complete recovery when I am at the holy resting place (the Ohel) of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal nishmaso Eden.

Regarding what you wrote about the doctors' opinion: it is already known from the saying of tzt"z that Torah gave permission to a doctor to heal but not G‑d forbid to make things heavy on one's heart. When one strengthens their trust in Hashem—the Healer of all flesh Who works wonders—this draws down actual visible and revealed good.

Blessings for long days and good years—to him and his wife—may they live—and much nachas from all their children—may they live—in true health.
