Your letter from the 8th of January reached me, and I was pleased to hear about your fruitful work in strengthening religion among the Jewish soldiers. Also, Rabbi Heschel, who recently came here from London, spoke highly of your honor as the living spirit behind this lofty endeavor.

Machane Yisrael, founded by my revered father-in-law the Rebbe shlita of Lubavitch, is dedicated to strengthening Torah and Judaism. Naturally, we are ready to assist your honor in every possible way.

Practically speaking, I would suggest that you contact Rabbi Benjaminsan in London. He has several copies of all the printed materials that have appeared from us. Based on these, you can estimate the details regarding the weight and size of the books and booklets needed for submitting a license request.

On our part, we are prepared to send you our books and booklets at a special discount—one third off the price. If you can obtain a license immediately, all the better; but if we need to send them at our own expense, we are also willing to waive half of the shipping costs.

In our opinion, it would suffice for the first time to send about 20–25 sample copies. If there is further need, we will send more G‑d willing.

Regarding the transformer for a mimeograph machine: We inquired at the central office in New York and were informed that only a few are available for sale since such items have not been produced for some time due to the war; only two or three can be obtained at $2.75 each.
