Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 3rd of Menachem Av, in which you write main points about your current way of life and ask: a) How to overcome the battle with the yetzer (inclination). Based on the well-known teaching of our Sages that even a little light pushes away much darkness—and certainly much light—first and foremost you should conduct your daily life according to the instructions of our Torah of life and by fulfilling its mitzvos about which it is said "and you shall live by them." The central point is "Shivisi Hashem l'negdi tamid" (I have set G‑d before me always), which must be understood simply: when one contemplates that Hashem stands over him and sees not only his actions and words but also his thoughts, this will surely restrain the yetzer and allow the G‑dly soul from the side of good to rule so that one acts according to the will of Hashem, Creator of the world (literally—and this small world is man himself).
To increase special assistance from Above in all this, it is proper that every weekday before morning prayers you set aside a few coins for tzedakah. Also, your tefillin should be checked—if this has not been done within the past twelve months.
b) Regarding your question about where to settle permanently: It is well known what our great teacher the Rambam writes: "It is human nature to be drawn in opinions and actions after one's friends and neighbors and to act according to local custom" (Hilchos Deos ch. 6 at its beginning; see there). From this it is understood that one should strive to establish his residence in an environment of those who are G‑d-fearing and fulfill His mitzvos in practice every day—especially regarding where to live after marriage. May Hashem bless you with sons and daughters; indeed, environment is a major factor in their education—not less than parents' influence and perhaps even more.
Since all this falls under Hashem's commandment, surely Hashem asks only according to one's ability; therefore it is possible to fulfill all of the above.
Certainly it is unnecessary to remind you of the great principle in Torah: "Ve'ahavta l'reiacha kamocha" (Love your fellow as yourself), whose immediate result is spreading Judaism and its matters among Jews wherever your influence reaches.
Blessings for good news.
